Position Purpose
The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis is a key role within the Finance team, responsible for supporting the financial strategy, planning, analysis, and reporting across multiple channels at Petco, including retail stores and eCommerce. Supports the finance leadership team and partners with the merchandising team to provide strategic and analytical support surrounding sales, margin, expenses, and other KPI’s to drive results, identify risks, and deliver our committed financial goals. Helps to create and manage the annual budget and monthly forecasting processes in partnership with the merchandise and planning teams. Supports ad hoc financial analysis to support Sr. Leadership and works cross functionally with Merchants, Planners, and Inventory teams to analyze performance issues, develop actionable insights, and provide recommendations.
Essential Job Functions
The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Support merchandising and finance leadership on strategic and analytical initiatives
Be a part of high-performing FP&A team, working in a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Complete complex analyses in all aspects of Petco’s business to help senior leadership understand and answer critical business issues and questions. This includes supporting cross-functional projects to gather information, perform analysis, and present results with informed recommendations.
Help establish monthly, quarterly, and annual tops down financial targets for sales, margin, and other ROI metrics for multiple categories and channels (retail stores & eCommerce)
Support the monthly forecasting and annual budget process
Form positive and close working relationships with Senior Executives in all functional areas
Drive continuous improvement around performance reporting for business teams and senior leadership
Support cross-functional teams with projects and needs as they arise
Analyze and report on Petco and retail trends for all parts of the business, including sales, cost of sales, merchandise shrink, G&A, etc.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in financial planning and analysis roles
Understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques
Ability to analyze complex financial data and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership
Some experience or exposure in strategic planning, scenario analysis, and business case development
A track record of success on high-performing teams
Advanced proficiency in financial software & systems and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
Nature of Supervision:
Overall direction is provided on major project work. Supervision is given to determine priorities and set annual business goals.
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted while seated indoors at a computer terminal, with little or no exposure to hazards. Occasional travel may be required for financial presentations or training.

The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. These ranges may differ in other areas and could be subject to variation based on regulatory minimum wage requirements. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws. If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.
