Job Summary

Sr Analyst-Financial Planning and Analyst is a business partner who develops a strong understanding of the Company business and presents risks, opportunities, and recommendations to senior leaders.  The Senior Analyst independently collects and analyzes key data to support the Company’s strategic decision-making.  The Senior Analyst will be responsible for the preparation, analysis, and presentation of budgets, forecasts, and financial summaries, and for identifying and communicating variance drivers to Company leadership to support business decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities Utilize the Company’s strategic financing model software to prepare forecasting for the utilities business and analyze the results of the models.  Present the results of these models to finance leadership and identify and recommend suggested actions which should be taken as a result. Lead the finance team in analyzing financial results and investigating key variance drivers.  Meet with senior management to present the results and recommend actions which should be taken. Lead the preparation of annual budgets and ongoing forecasts.  Make recommendations to management regarding budget assumptions.  Collaborate with business line leaders on the refinement of their budget requests and consider the appropriateness of the supporting documentation.  Prepare summarized information and present to senior management on budgets and forecasts to support their decision-making process. Provide information for the Company’s base rate cases and create analyses and responses to inquiries from regulators in support the Company’s rate base claims. Develop and measure financial KPIs.  Use data analytics to investigate and understand key business drivers, leading to recommendations for business improvements. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, problem solving, accountability, business acumen and enthusiasm. Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across teams, functions, and departments. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience with financial statement analysis, financial metrics and understanding of basic accounting principles. Ability to independently manage workload and meet internal deadlines while maintaining high-quality, accurate outputs. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field. MBA, CPA, CTP, or CMA a plus.
