Sr Android Developer
Support Center - Irving

Michaels Software Engineers will develop technologies that change how our customers connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a Sr Software Engineer, you will contribute to projects critical to Michaels needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Development:

Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable Android applications using Kotlin.Implement new features, improve performance, and ensure compatibility across a range of Android devices and versions.Integrate the app with RESTful APIs for features such as product listings, user accounts, shopping carts, payments, and order tracking.Develop unit tests and UI tests to ensure the app is bug-free and performs optimally.Monitor app performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for smooth operations even on low-end devices.

Collaboration & Innovation:

Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement modern, responsive designs optimized for mobile.Work closely with backend teams to ensure seamless integration and data flow.Partner with QA teams to fix reported issues and ensure compatibility across Android devices.Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and team retrospectives to align on business objectives.

App Management & Improvement:

Manage the Google Play Store listing, including releases, beta testing, and performance analytics.Address customer feedback and monitor app reviews to prioritize updates and improvements.Keep the app up to date with the latest Android development standards, libraries, and technologies.

Minimum Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

Worked with large scale web traffic and data with strong foundation in Data Structures, Algorithms, Linear Algebra.Advanced experience in Java, Python, C,  C++, MongoDB, MySQL, and/or other major programming languagesExperience in building search systems such as Elastic, SORL, Lucene, AlgoliaBuilding large-scale data pipelinesExpertise with cloud services, such as AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft AzureExperience in machine learning/computer vision/natural language processing application

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

5+ years of software engineering experience

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience with AI-assisted programming tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT for code generation).Familiarity with iOS native app development.Knowledge of mobile web development.Experience with MongoDB and Spanner DB.Experience with third-party integrations (e.g., payment gateways, analytics tools).

Preferred Education

Masters Degree or higher in Computer Science
