Sr BI Engineer

This individual will partner across data analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to develop and manage our BI solution (Tableau & Power BI) to meet the needs of the business. The right candidate has strong domain knowledge of retail, curiosity, a growth mindset, technical expertise in BI tools and a proven track record of driving best practices and processes, with hands-on experience in creating visualizations, performance tuning, & role-based access. This role reports to the Director of Analytics Platform. What You’ll Do | Key Responsibilities Own the BI processes and tools – driving the strategic roadmap for business intelligence and supporting an enterprise data-driven culture. Work hands-on to build reports and analytics that answer business questions, collaborating with data analysts and business stakeholders Optimize the reporting system for performance with an awareness of the data structure and data lineage components to accomplish delivering a responsive system. Bring product management practices to report/dashboard development – optimizing for user experience, reducing friction, establishing UI standards, etc. Organize and manage the process of new report/dashboard development in an Agile delivery framework for timely project execution: Synthesize business requirements, define KPI and metrics, prioritize work and create roadmaps with business and mentor the team to create best in class analytics. Promote data governance, data quality and self-service - Enable the business to create their own dashboards while keeping a tight governance framework in place. Clearly communicate progress, dependencies, risks, and issues to leadership. Drive reporting system adoption and measure the success of data products created by the team Create training and data literacy programs, developing a BI user community across the enterprise. Manage a developer community of practice, running regular training sessions and coordinating developer processes and standards. Collaborate with colleagues in Data Engineering to develop ongoing improvements to data quality, standardized definitions, governance, tools, and approaches. Required Skills & Experience 8+ years of Deep experience and proficiency in BI tools such as Tableau & Power BI Tableau Desktop Certification preferred Experience with Python/R data analysis preferred Power BI Certification preferred Familiar with semantic layer concepts and how they are used within BI solutions Strong SQL skills, familiar with complex functions and capable of working in large datasets Experience driving BI as a program, establishing standards, processes, and best practices. Experience in practicing agile methodologies, including scrum and continuous integration environments Strong troubleshooting skills - identifying data issues and anomalies Experience with databases such as Snowflake Familiarity with data privacy and security obligations Excellent communication and documentation skills Bachelor’s degree in a technical field like Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Operations Research, or Industrial Engineering, or relevant experience. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Other compensation may include a 10% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus paid out according to policy. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
