Position Overview

As a Senior BIM Specialist – Architecture, you will be a key contributor in driving digital innovation within architectural design and construction workflows. This role is suited for experienced architectural professionals with a deep understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) processes. You will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and managing architectural BIM standards while collaborating across disciplines to enhance efficiency, coordination, and constructability within a large-scale design and construction environment.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build Management team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design-build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. Location

This position can be based out of our NYC or Woodcliff Lake, NJ office.

Responsibilities

Model Management and Standards:
•    Create, maintain, and enforce BIM standards and best practices for architectural designers.
•    Oversee model accuracy, data integrity, and compliance with project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
•    Conduct quality control checks on architectural models to ensure alignment with project requirements and coordination with other disciplines.
•    Support project teams by managing structure and organization within a project’s Common Data Environment (CDE).

BIM Execution and Coordination:
•    Serve as a BIM leader within the architectural team, ensuring seamless integration of digital design workflows into project delivery.
•    Work closely with architects, engineers, and construction teams to create and manage coordinated models that optimize constructability and efficiency.
•    Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to identify and resolve spatial, structural, and system clashes using typical Autodesk software.
•    Assist in the development and implementation of BIM execution plans (BEPs) to guide project workflows.
•    Provide model visualization and navigation support to assist in design decision-making and coordination meetings.

Training and Collaboration:
•    Ability to lead and support architectural workflows and coordinate with other disciplines.
•    Recognize opportunities for construction technologies and implement them on the project, training the future users and ensuring technology dissemination
•    Share expertise by teaching design technology skills to architects.
•    Foster a problem-solving mindset, approaching challenges with a “nothing is impossible” attitude.
•    Maintain deliverable quality according to BEP and project standards.
•    Work with the project team to review and raise constructability issues. Collaboratively work with the design and trade partners to develop and track resolutions.

Advanced Skills and Leadership:
•    Experience in multi-disciplinary complex transit/infrastructure projects
•    Demonstrate proficiency beyond the entry-level BIM Specialist role.
•    Take ownership of complex tasks and mentor junior team members.
•    Contribute to process improvement initiatives and innovative solutions.
•    Assist in generating reports and sheets from the design & construction model

Qualifications

•    Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in a design program or engineering field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
•    3+ years experience of Virtual Design and Construction with strong software skills including Navisworks, ACC, Revit, Civil 3D, Dynamo, etc
•    Keen attention to detail — essential for accurate modeling and coordination.
•    Familiarity with a range of design technology and software techniques
•    Strong understanding of architecture and architectural workflows
•    Ability to review and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings/models and specifications and translate 2D drawings and specifications into a complete 3D Building Information Model
•    Scripting knowledge and experience working with model metadata is an asset

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Certification in Autodesk Revit.

Base Compensation: $95,000/yr - $115,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
