SUMMARY:
This position will report to the Associate Director of Commodity Purchasing and assist with procurement and logistics of truck supplied feed grains to Tyson feed mills. This position will require someone with a broad understanding of grain markets, supply chain execution, and working in a physical procurement team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities Include:
Executing the purchase to pay process for feed grain deliveries to Tyson feed mills.Supplying grain in the most cost-effective way for assigned feed mills.Ability to execute and manage multiple types of grain procurement contracts including fixed priced, basis only, and HTA contracts.Ability to manage both a FOB and delivered position to maximize supply chain security.Promoting the Tyson LGS Program to maximize the effectiveness of the company’s grain presence with local farmers and communities.Promoting Tyson LGS Sustain ProgramDeveloping and maintaining relationships with farmers and feed mill managersForecasting supply and managing inventory levels to assigned feed millsDeveloping and maintaining daily bid sheets that align with assigned P&L strategies.Executing hedges related to forward purchases.Resolution of customer/contract disputesMaintaining effective customer relationships with vendors including producers, mill operations, resellers, and brokersContract management and data entryCoordinating truck deliveries with the rail grain procurement teamMaintaining a thorough knowledge of fundamental grain markets and logistics values including rail, truck freight, and barge freight valuationsManaging a physical basis P&L vs. assigned gateways and mill locations.Innovative and critical thinking Develop and maintain Tyson presence in local mill communities while working to increase origination opportunities outside core regions.REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Ag Business, Economics or Ag production.Experience: 2+ years of merchandising preferredCommunication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; will represent Tyson while interfacing with other Tyson team members and external parties.Computer Skills: Requires standard computer skills and experience with Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.Special Skills: A general understanding of the agriculture transportation system in the U.S. will be required to assist in making decisions; understanding the fundamentals of supply and demand and how these factors influence price levels for grain complex - both domestic and international.Supervisory: NoTravel: 6 to 8 trips per yearRelocation Assistance Eligible:
