Sr Clinical Therapist

Summary:

The Senior Clinical Therapist will provide services to children and adults with behavioral health challenges. Services will be delivered in community sites that provide supports to populations that typically have difficulty accessing behavioral health services (e.g. people of color LGBTQ homeless). Therapist will coordinate with community site to engage their clients and deliver behavioral health treatment and support that will meet their needs. The clinician�s primary goals are to 1) assess the biopsychosocial and safety needs of the clients and determining treatment strategies; 2) guide the person-centered treatment planning process; 3) provide therapy according to the identified evidence-based practice strategies; and 4) work collaboratively with the community site to promote improve and sustain the overall wellness of the target population.

 

Responsibilities:

� Works collaboratively with the placement site to understand the population�s needs effective outreach and engagement strategies and coordination of care priorities.

� Conducts biopsychosocial assessment of clients upon entry to program and annually thereafter completing case formulations that guide in developing treatment plan goals.

� Conducts risk assessments and corresponding safety plans upon entry and continuously reviews and updates them.

� Guides clients to clarify goals and helpful interventions through the person-centered treatment planning process to learn new skills that support behavior change and increase coping strategies and to assess progress.

� Uses Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to engage and treat clients and other evidence-based practices as identified for targeted populations.

� Provides psychoeducation to clients and families in the community sites.

� Maintains current knowledge of available community resources relevant to population and how to access them as needed.

� Maintains frequent communication and collaborative relationships with client colleagues and community providers to ensure coordinated care.

� Maintains performance standards according to professional competencies and fidelity to the evidence-based treatment models.

� Attends supervision agency and team meetings as scheduled.

� Maintains detailed accurate and timely documentation in medical record.

� Enhances professional expertise through educational activities and trainings.

� Follows agency policies and standards for client rights and confidentiality and ethical standards for profession.

� Meets requirements for client contact time according to agency productivity targets.

� Other duties as assigned

 

Other information:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

� Master�s degree in social work mental health counseling or marriage and family therapy and on an independent licensing track with the RI Department of Health

� At least 1-years of clinical experience working with targeted population in a mental health setting

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

� Strong verbal communication and social relationship skills

� Assessment skills necessary to evaluate clients� mental health needs and to formulate and implement a treatment plan

� Knowledge of human development and family systems issues.

� Advocacy and teaching skills.

� Valid driver's license and use of car in order to perform the major functions of the job.

� Automobile liability insurance coverage for vehicle being used in accordance with Center requirements.

� Ability to work collaboratively as a team to coordinate care for clients with intensive behavioral health needs.
