Overview
Responsible to oversee highly skilled transmission and distribution work of electrical facilities in a safe, productive manner with attention to quality by supervising substation crews assigned to work on all overhead and underground transmission and distribution substation facilities involving capital construction, failure replacements and maintenance.
Responsibilities
+ Know and understand Safety rules and practices for line construction.
+ Independently coordinates, inspects, and managing all phases of large capital projects on the LG&E and KU Transmission system ranging from 69kV to 500kV voltages.
+ Observe contract work in progress, checking safety, productivity, quality, progress and paperwork.
+ Coordinate contractors’ work during emergency work or storms.
+ Set up line requests, schedule outages, and oversee switching operations through the System Operations Center.
+ Oversee and provide real-time technical direction for multiple projects and multiple contract crews throughout the territory.
+ Provide technical direction, training, and direct oversight to less experienced contract Inspectors.
+ Approve and process contractor time and equipment sheets for invoicing and coordinate work for contractors.
+ Maintain control of all company materials used by contractors.
+ Responsible for providing complete information for completing project in Oracle, providing information for checking and processing contractor and material invoices, providing proper build information to update system maps and office prints and records.
+ Work with property owners to obtain permission to access Right of Way and settle damage claims.
+ All other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Associates degree or two-year technical training in a discipline related to Substation Construction and Maintenance.
+ 5 years experience in distribution or transmission substation construction and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required (i.e., must have 7 years of experience if only a high school education).
+ Demonstrated expertise/knowledge of energized and de-energized facilities involving substation equipment; switching and carding procedures; knowledge of training, clearances and minimum approach distances; all other aspects associated with LOTO procedures on transmission and distribution substation equipment.
+ Requires effective communication, planning, organizing and analytical skills.
+ A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualification
+ Thorough understanding of basic electric theory, identify and analyze trouble in electrical circuits, print reading and moderate computer skills used in the substation trade and office applications software.
+ Thorough knowledge of safety rules/regulations, energy control process, company policies, and construction work practices.
+ Supervisory experience with leadership and teamwork skills demonstrating both oral and written communication skills.

Exposure to dampness, dirt, heat, noise, etc. as this position frequently works in the field
Physical Effort
Continuous standing, walking or operating on rough terrain.

Remote Work
The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
