Sr. Database Administrator

Position can be located within Carol Stream, IL or Deerfield, IL

Hybrid Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 Tuesday-Thursday in office

Major Responsibilities:

Provides strategic direction for the database architecture and systems, including upgrades. Provides database design and support for application and infrastructure projects Manages and maintains the databases to ensure availability and performance standards are met. Plans for future growth of systems and recommend improvements. Monitors databases to proactively prevent issues from occurring. Provides technical leadership to ensure successful management of projects throughout the development life cycle and timely delivery of enhancements. Designs and maintains database structures according to best practices and company standards. Conducts disaster recovery tests and manages backup processes. Assists developers with tuning of code to ensure successful implementations. Understands and demonstrates Essendant’s Core Values. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

Excellent RDBMS skills in Oracle and SQL Server. Excellent skills in UNIX, Linux and Windows Operating Systems. Excellent time/project management skills Excellent attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Intermediate leadership skills. Knowledge of MongoDB, Progress, MySQL is a plus.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science Certification in RDBMS preferred Minimum 6 years of database administration experience, 8 years preferred
