This key leadership role will be responsible for the strategy and design of enterprise-level healthcare applications, focusing on Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), and Patient Digital Experience platforms. This role is critical to the ongoing digital transformation and modernization of our healthcare technology ecosystem, ensuring that our applications are scalable, secure, and integrated across the organization.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Application Architecture:
• Develop and maintain the enterprise application architecture strategy, aligning it with organizational goals and industry best practices.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, platforms, and tools that enhance the scalability, security, and performance of healthcare systems.
• Ensure alignment between the IT architecture and clinical, financial, and operational needs.
• Develop, document, and maintain enterprise architectural standards, architectural diagrams, and application inventories.

 

Patient Digital Experience:
• Lead the design of patient-facing digital solutions, such as portals, mobile apps, and telehealth platforms.
• Ensure that digital patient engagement tools are user-friendly, secure, and aligned with patient care strategies.
• Monitor trends in patient technology and innovate new approaches to enhance the patient experience and satisfaction.

 

Governance and Compliance:
• Ensure all enterprise application designs comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant standards.
• Work with security and compliance teams to maintain governance frameworks for managing risk, security, and privacy across the healthcare technology ecosystem.

 

Stakeholder Collaboration
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, and financial leaders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions.
• Provide architectural oversight for major EHR, RCM, and Digital projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
• Drive initiatives to modernize and innovate within the healthcare technology stack.
• Work closely with Software Development teams to provide guidance and guardrails.
• Work with IT Business Partners to develop roadmaps for applications and digital experiences.

 

Continuous Improvement:
• Work with IT teams on continuous improvement initiatives, foster strong collaboration through feedback loops, analysis, and technical recommendations.
• Build and maintain roadmaps for process improvement.

 

Team Leadership:
• Lead and mentor a team of solution architects, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful goal achievement.
• Develop career growth plans for team members and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Provide regular performance feedback and encourage continuous learning and development.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly reporting on progress and areas for improvement.

 

Vendor Management:
• Evaluate new vendors and solutions that align with enterprise architecture strategies.
• Ensure vendors adhere to the organization’s technical and security standards.
• Manage relationships with third-party vendors to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Required:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred:

 

Minimum Experience
Required:
• 8-10 years of experience in enterprise application architecture, with a focus on EHR, RCM, and patient digital platforms, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the healthcare industry.
Preferred:
• Experience with Azure hosting capabilities, including IaaS, AKS, App Services.
• Expertise in EHR platforms, RCM systems, and patient engagement technologies.
• Experience and leadership in design and implementation of custom-built applications, using MS technologies (.Net, MS SQL, CosmosDB) and Angular.
• Experience in digital CRM platforms including Dynamics, MS Cloud for healthcare, Healthcloud, etc.
• Experience documenting end to end solutions and facilitating technical implementation of solutions.
• Experience building Enterprise Architecture standards and processes.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• Business acumen that can interpret and translate goals into technical specifications, delivering thought-leadership of specific technologies, and driving technology change.
• Building trusted and influential relationships at all levels and engaging with vendors and third parties as appropriate
• Owning and driving thought leadership to influence their sphere of technology in the use of innovation to advance business capabilities.
• Understanding emerging technologies to market these technologies to business leadership and convey possibilities for new ways of working; and,
• Assembling concepts and communications appropriate for specific audiences at all staff levels.

 

Licenses and Certifications
Required:

Preferred:
• TOGAF, CPHIMS, PMP, or equivalent certifications.
