Job Title: Sr. Director of Strategic Narrative and Market Differentiation

The Opportunity

The SaaS market is saturated with noise and sameness. At 8x8, we know that clear, compelling, and differentiated messaging can be the deciding factor for customers evaluating solutions. We need an experienced and visionary leader to architect and execute a world-class Strategic Narrative that drives pipeline, accelerates deals, and elevates 8x8 as the go-to CX platform.

The Sr. Director of Strategic Narrative and Market Differentiation will be responsible for crafting, implementing, and evangelizing a unified, differentiated narrative that transforms 8x8’s positioning and drives real business impact. This role demands an expert storyteller and strategic thinker who can align cross-functional teams around a common vision and ensure this narrative resonates deeply with internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

Strategic Narrative Leadership

Own the Narrative: Architect and own 8x8’s Strategic Narrative, aligning it with the company’s vision, brand, and GTM strategy to differentiate us in the crowded CX space.

Collaboration Across Teams: Partner with senior leadership across Product, Sales, and Marketing to ensure the narrative aligns with business objectives and integrates seamlessly into all customer touchpoints.

Customer-Centric Focus: Ground the narrative in a deep understanding of customer pain points, positioning 8x8 as a strategic partner that solves their most pressing challenges.

Execution & Enablement

Pipeline Creation: Integrate the Strategic Narrative into campaigns, ABM strategies, and demand-generation efforts to increase awareness and drive pipeline growth.

Sales Transformation: Partner with Sales and BDR leaders to embed the narrative into pitches, outbound messaging, and sales tools, ensuring alignment at every stage of the buyer’s journey.

Marketing Integration: Collaborate with Brand and Demand Gen teams to infuse the narrative into all campaigns, ensuring consistent and persuasive storytelling across channels.

Customer Journey Support: Identify friction points in the buyer’s journey and create narrative-driven assets (e.g., case studies, technical demos) to address and resolve them.

Evangelism & Adoption

Internal Evangelism: Lead workshops and training programs for marketing, sales, and executive teams to ensure narrative adoption and application across functions.

External Evangelism: Represent 8x8 as a thought leader at industry events, customer meetings, and analyst briefings, reinforcing our unique market positioning.

Executive Alignment: Work closely with the CMO and executive leadership to ensure consistent messaging in external engagements and strategic communications.

Measurement & Impact

Define Metrics: Establish clear KPIs to measure narrative impact, including buyer journey acceleration, close-win rates, and pipeline contribution.

Iterate & Improve: Regularly test, refine, and optimize messaging based on performance insights and market feedback.

Qualifications

Senior Leadership Experience: 10+ years in marketing, product marketing, or strategic communications, with VP or equivalent leadership roles in SaaS or technology organizations.

Strategic Storyteller: Proven ability to craft and execute market-defining narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and drive measurable outcomes.

Sales Alignment Expertise: Deep understanding of the sales process, with a track record of partnering with sales teams to improve effectiveness and win rates.

Cross-Functional Leader: Strong collaborator with experience aligning marketing, sales, and product teams around a shared vision and strategy.

CX Domain Knowledge: Expertise in Customer Experience (CX), Unified Communications (UC), or Contact Center (CC) technologies, with the ability to communicate their business value.

Data-Driven Approach: Ability to establish KPIs, analyze performance, and iterate based on data insights.

Exceptional Communicator: Strong public speaking and writing skills, with experience representing brands at high-profile events or in the media.

Preferred Skills

Mastery of storytelling frameworks and methodologies, applied in SaaS or B2B environments.

Proficiency in AI-driven marketing tools and platforms.

Experience coaching executives on storytelling and narrative alignment.

The compensation range reflects the Company’s good faith belief at the time of posting. 8x8 has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Further, individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience, knowledge, success, education and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including discretionary merit increases, bonus and/or stock. Certain roles have the opportunity to earn sales variable compensation incentives based on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.

Salary Ranges:

$143,250.00 - $238,750.00
