ThIs role can be EMEA based with regular travel to Birmingham, UK Headquarters.
Position Summary: The Sr. Dir. Research and Development for Protein Diagnostics will drive the PDX business new product strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the New Product Development (NPD) projects by R&D teams across the division to establish an agile network of skills and specialist capabilitiesLead external engineering partners to supplement our internal core strengths with a strategic network of innovation suppliersImplement NPD plans based on industry standard processes, resulting in schedule, budget and specification alignmentResponsible for creating a compelling technology roadmap to address market trendsLead internal innovation accelerator and incubator with the overarching goal to both de-risk projects and address or even create new marketsSpecifically focus on relevant technology push factors (e.g., artificial intelligence, etc…) and their impact on the diagnostic laboratory of the futureChampion an environment for conceptualization and innovation, agility and risk taking and demonstrating various innovation models from internal development, in-licensing, M&A and cross-BU teamworkPromote a goal-oriented working environment through empowerment and motivationDevelop, retain, and recruit outstanding talent in assay development and engineering while using complementary strengths of the organization to grow strong talentTravel: approximately 25% globallyMinimum Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and PhD. in Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field required is requiredExtensive R&D experience, preferably in diagnosticsAbility in a leadership roleConfirmed expertise in a role involving formal verification, design transfer, and EU/US regulatory clearance of IVDTrack record of innovationProficient in English (reading and technical writing)
