Sr Director, Tax

Job Summary 

The Senior Director of Tax is a key leader in the Tax Group responsible for direct leadership and management of the full breadth of the tax function with At Home Group. This includes tax accounting; tax compliance (Federal & State income tax, property tax, sales & use tax, and other taxes); tax planning; people and process development; and communication and collaboration with all internal and external business partners.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities: 

 

Responsible for the quarterly and annual tax accounting requirements in accordance with ASC 740, including ensuring timely and accurate preparation and review of income tax provision work papers in support of the financial statements and related SEC reporting. Prepare tax-related disclosures required in GAAP financial statements.  Responsible for ensuring timely preparation and review of Federal consolidated and state taxable income for return reporting requirements, preparation of extensions and quarterly estimated tax payments, manage the co-sourced preparation and review of Federal and State corporate tax returns and vigorously defend all positions upon audit. Work closely with accounting and business departments to ensure information for tax compliance is obtained accurately and efficiently.  Responsible for overseeing all sales and use tax as well as real estate, personal property, unclaimed property and other tax matters in support of the Indirect Tax function. Direct and support special projects such as tax planning, restructuring, tax incentive and credit initiatives, and applicable filings. Perform tax research and advise business partners. Responsible for transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements and customs related issues.  Manage the preparation of income tax projections, providing estimates on the tax return amounts. Collaborate with Treasury department on estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes, providing essential documentation and analysis.  Consult with business units on tax issues as they arise, especially concerning new business development projects. Monitor changes in tax law and impact on the Company’s tax posture. Identify opportunities for improvement in the tax compliance process.  Work with outside advisors to obtain tax advice on how to best position At Home and its assets. 

            

Qualifications & Competencies: 

 

CPA and MS in Tax strongly preferred 10-12 years relevant experience in federal and state corporate income tax, including consolidated tax returns and financial reporting for income taxes Preferred experience within indirect tax Experience in retail, restaurant or manufacturing industry and public accounting desired; Big 4 experience preferred Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills Strong business acumen, analysis and judgment Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline-driven environment Hands-on; strong attention to detail and accuracy Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with senior leadership Excellent analytical/organizational abilities on a multi-project basis  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within dynamic environment
