Job Description Summary

               

This position supports Lamb Weston’s Journey to Zero by providing clear, concise, and relevant leadership to Lamb Weston’s technical and Innovation teams. This position demands exceptional management expertise and extensive engineering leadership experience. Expertise in creating a project business case through close cross-functional collaboration promoting a W1N as 1 culture across the organization is a critical expectation of the candidate. Coordinating resources to deliver the business needs, tracking and reporting key project metrics, and growing our people are key deliverables. The work also includes developing technical support strategies, innovation concepts and budgets that meet the needs as defined by Lamb Weston Leadership. Elements to be monitored and managed include technical plant support, innovation strategies to meet business needs, project design, CIR write-ups, preparing and presenting project reviews and presentations, developing contractor bid packages, overseeing project installation, cost tracking, training and startup assistance as well as post project support are normal work activities. The successful applicant will assure delivery of high-quality best in class engineering technical support and innovative solutions. Mentoring of engineering staff is a critical part of this position's responsibilities. Working closely with the various levels of Operations Management, Procurement, EHSS, Food Protection, Marketing, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Plant Staff, and Production Personnel is critical. This position coordinates activities with LW (Lamb Weston) operations and is based out of our Kennewick, Washington, engineering office.

Job Description

Provide proven leadership to the Global Engineering Technical and Innovation Management staff.Work closely with Sr Directors in Global Engineering and Operations on LW technical support needs, innovation strategies and implementation of projects.Collaborates closely with other resources and groups across the platform to ensure technical and innovation strategies reflect overall platform objectives.  Works alongside other engineering leadership to help achieve overall platform objectives.Coordinates with and informs LW operations and related/affected groups regarding strategies, technical and innovation approaches and status.Accountable for leadership and implementation of the technical discipline of the LW engineering specifications and standards.Work with Platforms for standardization of equipment, methods, and design through development and governance of standards, specifications, and guidelines.Operates with an empowerment and a servant leadership management style.Facilitates the development of SME’s, technical experts and Project Management skills throughout Lamb Weston.Identifies, recruits, hires, and develops technical engineering and innovation staff to build a positive team culture that leverages resources across the business to supports our Commercial, SC and Operations teams.Reflects the Mission, Vision, Values of the Global Engineering team, as well as those of Lamb Weston.Provides leadership to drive selected corporate initiatives.Provides support to the manufacturing facilities through coaching and as a technical engineering management resource.Help insures LW production facilities and projects reliably achieve performance, quality, schedule, cost, and Vertical Start-up expectations.Working knowledge of federal and state, OSHA and EPA industrial regulations, enforcement techniques, operating structures, and rulemaking processesWorking knowledge of ammonia refrigeration, steam systems, packaging systems, processing systems, industrial electrical controls, electrical power, and wastewater pre-treatment systems.Collaborate closely with procurement leadership to leverage purchasing power.Accountable for developing, managing, and forecasting technical and innovation department budget.Other duties as assigned.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

BS or MS degree in Engineering is required.Experience and knowledge of industrial plant construction, codes, practices, and engineering requirements are essential.Minimum of 10 years engineering, industrial capital project experience, or plant leadership.10 years or more of direct engineering management experience including a minimum of 5 years in the Food Industry or closely related field (i.e. Biotechnology, Pharma, etc.)Three to five years technical resource management experience.Demonstrated proven leadership of Engineering resources.Professional Engineering license desirable.Understanding of IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) potato manufacturing is highly desirable.Experience with plant engineering, maintenance, and operations.Strong leadership, coaching, communication, presentation and negotiating skills.Proven success in managing by influence in a matrix organization.Excellent organizational and report writing skills.Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, regulations, and requirements.Knowledge of LW specific operations processes and programs is a benefit.Proficient using Microsoft office suite, including MS Project and functional use of AutoCAD applications.Ability to travel up to 40% of the time on average with peaks potentially exceeding that amount for some duration.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $174,070.00 - $261,090.00
