General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systmes manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets.  We presently have a need for a Sr Electrical Engineer at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location. 

This position is responsible for planning, organizing and reviewing the performance of professional and/or technical staff performing engineering work related to the design of control electronics for motion control products.

 

Preferred experience for this role:

Knowledge of electro-mechanical testing methods, data collection and analysis, equipment used in testing, and methods/processes of testing operationsExperience with embedded C for motor control Knowledge of feedback devices for motor control such as hall sensors, resolvers and encodersExperience with multiple serial communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, RS232/RS485Gigabit Ethernet direct experience is a plusStrong research, design, and development knowledge within the electrical engineering discipline including the knowledge of control systems.Proficient with MATLAB and SIMULINK applications.Altium Designer skillset is a plus

 

Major Position Responsibilities Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.

 

Basic Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years experiencePreferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's DegreeDiscipline/Major: Electrical Engineering or other Engineering degree requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities: Oral and Written Communication. Pay Range (USD) $82,005-$152,295 Additional Compensation Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program.
