Henry Holt & Company is looking for a senior/executive editor to acquire and edit business and practical nonfiction books. Key responsibilities for this role are to bring in 6-9 titles per year, work closely with our publicity and marketing departments to shepherd the titles to publication, and maintain relationships with authors and agents across the industry.
What you'll do:
Build relationships with literary agents and promising authors of books ranging from personal finance to leadership to productivity to big ideas Appraise book projects and promising submissions and directly negotiate for their acquisition Edit style, structure, content, and line of acquired nonfiction titles toward delivering books in their fullest artistic and saleable form Create sharp, persuasive pitches for the sales force designed to sell-in their titles at chain and independent retailers Serve as in-house advocate for individual titlesWhat you'll bring:
Basic knowledge of the modern media landscape and especially the business media Contacts with agents who specialize in business books Contacts with authors and influencers in the business world, and an appetite for pursuing projects outside of agent submissions At least 5-7 years in media of any kindThis role will have an annual salary of $80,000 - $150,000
