Provides technical support to Valero companies on loss prevention issues including fire protection, standards, projects, risk assessment and prioritization, facility siting, mechanical reliability and integrity, and loss investigation and recovery. Also supports insurance underwriting activities and site surveys. Possesses excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management and every aspect of operations.
Provides design and engineering support for company fire protection systems, shutdown and isolation systems, facility siting, plant layout, and other fire and loss prevention projects.Participates in investigations of reported material incidents and near misses at company locations. Provides lessons learned to the organization, work with Legal to support subrogation efforts.Assists in development of procedures, work practices, standards, manuals, specifications, bulletins and training material on loss prevention topics.Supports testing of fire pumps and other risk control related system at Valero field locations.Supports tracking and closure of recommendations from insurers, investigations, and site support activities.Assists in analyzing business loss and claims data to identify trends and loss reduction focus areas.Supports annual insurance underwriting efforts.Participates in refinery visits with outside insurance underwriters and loss control engineers. Reviews and validates loss surveys and reports from outside entities.Performs loss control reviews of Valero facilities.
