Responsibilities

This job is responsible for performing complex and responsible professional, analytical and consultative human resources work for VMFH to develop, deliver and/or coordinate specific projects/products/recommendations to stakeholders consistent with HR/Compensation-related standards, customer needs, applicable regulatory requirements and organizational business objectives. An incumbent serves as central point-of-contact for job analysis/classification activities for the PNW Division and ensures that timely, accurate and compliant job descriptions are available for all VMFH positions. Work is performed in close collaboration with the VMFH HR management and the VMFH Compensation Center of Expertise (CoE).


Work also includes: 1) reviewing recommendations and providing feedback to facilitate/ensure consistency with compensation principles/standards and VMFH guidelines; 2) coordinating the Division-specific execution/implementation/communication of recurring programs/projects (e.g. merit increases, market adjustments, incentive awards, etc); and 3) participating in division acquisition/integration/standardization activities.


An incumbent uses initiative in carrying out work independently, handling problems and deviations in accordance with established procedures, accepted practice and/or requirements. Guidelines for conducting the work are generally (but not always) clearly applicable, requiring the exercise of independent judgment in selecting the most pertinent guideline, interpreting precedents, adapting standard practices to differing situations and recommending alternative actions in situations with limited precedent.


Work requires a thorough understanding of compensation concepts, practices and legal requirements, collective bargaining agreements and organizational policies, as well as strong skills in verbal and written communication, data analysis and project management. An incumbent is accountable for keeping abreast of applicable statutory limitations, rules, regulations and industry trends impacting the compensation discipline, as well as organizational initiatives/changes with potential for impacting division-specific pay strategies and programs.


Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and a minimum of five years of directly-related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge, skills and abilities. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
