Summary:
The Senior IT Project Manager utilizes project management discipline to plan, document, execute and finalize medium to large, complex, multi-departmental or enterprise projects according to the approved scope assessment, project plan, and work breakdown structure (WBS), resource plan, schedule and budget. Ensures IT project methodology rigor and practice improvement through Project Manager mentoring and project methodology artifact reviews while actively managing projects. Provides project management guidance and mentoring, as a subject matter expert (SME), to peers, project team members, and stakeholders to optimize project outcomes.
Position Responsibilities:
Project Management
Plans IT Projects in collaboration with Operational Leaders, IT Directors and key Stakeholders according to Project Methodology Business Practice to define the project’s scope, plan, budget and timeline.
Manages the implementation of IT projects from scope development to post implementation according to Project Methodology Business Practice, approved scope, plan, budget and timeline.
Manages and documents all phases of the project lifecycle to capture and secure all project artifacts, and assure a successful project implementation.
Manages project budget including the tracking of Invoices, Purchase Orders, Payments, Consultant Time and Travel, operating within budgetary guidelines and justifying variances to insure that projects remain on budget.
Leads vendor selection process including identification of critical success factors, requests for information (RFI) and vendor demonstrations to select the best system for Virtua Health.
Spearheads the vendor contract review process within IT
Guide, facilitate & coordinate, with input from all IT PMs, the maintenance, development and evolution of standard project templates and methodology. Collates and summarizes changes to improve project methodology rigor, efficiency, effectiveness & outcomes. Implement and communicate updated documentation and/or standard templates with the IT PMO team.
Monitor and improve project communication strategies for effective understanding. Establish & measure effectiveness of standard reports & dashboards based on recipients input (executives, steering committee, stakeholders, and project team).
Makes recommendations and participates in the enhancement of the IT Project Manager Orientation program and serves as a mentor to new Project Managers.
Makes recommendations and participates in the development of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to improve Project Management workflows.
Business Relationship Management
Develops and fosters relationships with all IT PMO customers and project stakeholders, including: IT Leadership, Operational Leadership, Project Team Members, IT Customers and vendors.
Analyzes and translates customer business requests to define Project requirements, scope, plan, budget and timeline.
Guides customers toward optimal system design solutions to meet workflow needs.
Engages key IT and Operational stakeholders during and outside of project lifecycles to build and maintain a ‘trusted advisor’ relationship.
Meets regularly with IT Directors & IT Managers to review active project status.
Tracking and Reporting
Identifies and documents all project tasks and assignments in the Project Portfolio Management PPM system.
Manages project status in the Project Portfolio Management PPM system.
Identifies and documents all project risks, issues and decisions in the Project Portfolio Management PPM system.
Manages the reporting, escalation and remediation of all project risks, issues and decisions.
Proactively anticipates project roadblocks and recommends and manages mitigation strategies. Manages and reports project health status to key stakeholders and IT Leadership.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
5+ years of Project Management experience
Project Management experience leading medium to large, complex, multi-departmental or Enterprise level IT projects according to Project Management Business Practices.
Experience with requirements analysis and testing methodology.
Managerial experience is a plus.
Must be able to manage multiple, simultaneous projects.
Must have a positive, flexible attitude, work well autonomously and with a team.
Demonstrates excellent time management, goal setting, prioritization and delegations skills, as well as excellent analytical, written/verbal communication and organizational skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Epic, ServiceNow, Project Management tools and/or other hospital systems or Interfaces is a plus.
Required Education:
Bachelor's in Information Systems, Business Administration, Clinical area or 10+ years of IT project management experience.
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
LEAN-Six Sigma, CAPM, or PMP certification preferred.
