This is a non-union positionEnbridge Gas North Carolina (EGNC) is seeking a Senior Counsel with extensive experience in providing comprehensive litigation, pipeline safety, and regulatory support. The Senior Counsel role will focus on managing and resolving disputes and litigation matters for EGNC, advising internal clients on sound legal and risk analyses, and ensuring alignment with Enbridge’s business objectives.

Here’s what you will do:
Provide legal advice and litigation support to EGNC and other Enbridge businesses, as required. Expertly and reliably counsel internal clients.
Litigate cases, advise on pre-litigation disputes, and manage internal and external legal resources for these matters.
Draft, review and negotiate legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, draft order licenses, public permits and other documents with legal implications.
Counsel and advise clients on legal, regulatory, OSHA, PHMSA and local external affairs matters, and develop strategies aligned with business priorities. Assist with EGNC regulatory matters.
Monitor applicable local, state, and federal legislative and regulatory actions, court decisions, and advise clients concerning relevant developments.
Assist with internal reporting, tracking and budgeting of litigated matters.
Counsel and advise clients on crisis and emergency management and evidence preservation, and participate in teams managing unplanned incidents.
Work collaboratively with other counsel and encourage best practices throughout the enterprise.
May manage paraprofessionals and train or supervise less experienced lawyers or claims professionals.
Duties may include hiring outside experts, coordinating company experts, preparing witnesses for depositions and trial, and overall responsibility for developing strategy for trial or settlement.
Who you are:
You have:
A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and are licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
A minimum of 8 years of direct related experience.
Experience in tort and commercial litigation.
Experience with, and knowledge of, OSHA, PHMSA, state public utility laws, regulations, issues, interaction with local authorities, and other legal matters related to the public utility and energy industry.
The ability to work effectively and efficiently in a diverse and dynamic enterprise and coordinate a variety of internal and external activities having legal significance to the company.
Independent judgement, initiative, and ability to work directly with clients.

Include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
