General Dynamics-OTS San Diego manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. We presently have a need for a Sr Manager, Engineering at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location with mechanical engineering focus preferred.
In coordination and alignment with Engineering Director and site objectives, plans and directs engineering activities within GD-OTS San Diego and oversees the design of products such as motors, resolvers, and systems. The Sr Manager, Engineering manages through a team of Engineering professionals and as a working manager. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of the Engineering group. This position reports to the Engineering Director.
Major Position Responsibilities Analyzes, develops, and evaluates systems as well as improving and maintaining current systems or creating brand new projects. Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.Recommends operational plans with direct impact on results.
Requires communication with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance, i.e., Constructing and presenting status briefings on technical challenges.Works with third party resources, site leadership and other necessary departments to bring comprehensive solutions for operations, production, or maintenance issues related to local production or test failures.
Basic Qualifications Required Education: Associate's Degree Equivalent Combination of Relevent Education &/ or ExperiencePreferred Education: Bachelor's DegreeDiscipline/Major: Manufacturing, Business or Engineering preferred Years and Area of Experience (required for the role): 5-7 years’ experience in a relevant function Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Leadership skills. Ability to foster teamwork. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills. Technical expertise.Critical Professional Related Technical Skills; Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Pay Range (USD) $100,100- $185,900 Additional Compensation Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program.
