The pay range is $92,000.00 - $166,000.00

As a sustainability leader, you’ll help Target pioneer efforts that help embed sustainability across the business and contribute to building a more equitable, sustainable and regenerative future for all. For the experienced enterprise sustainability (ES) professional with a background in driving sustainable change, a role in ES could be that just-right fit.

As a Senior Manager, ESG, you will build Target’s sustainability performance management capability. You will enable centralized reporting of our performance, drive strategic analyses, deepen external disclosure, and articulate our strategy and progress to key stakeholders inside and outside our four walls to ensure that our efforts at Target drive the progress we seek towards our vision to co-create an equitable and regenerative future together with our guests, partners and communities.

In this role, you will report directly to the Director of ESG, Enterprise Sustainability. Your core responsibilities will include:

Enable centralized performance management of our sustainability strategy, including:

Defining the internal and external inputs and key progress indicators needed to track performance management, inclusive of an understanding of current goal progress, industry benchmarking, and analysis of stakeholder expectations.

Ongoing assessment and refinement of portfolio progress with internal and external stakeholders, including driving deeper progress of lagging areas in partnership with our subject matter experts

Enabling quarterly progress tracking and calibration efforts, inclusive of the creation of dashboards/tools, presentation to leaders, and escalation of risks when needed

Development of internal and external communications and disclosure related to performance management, in partnership with cross-functional teams (Enterprise Communications, Risk/Reputation)

Manage Target’s external disclosures with ESG stakeholders, inclusive of CDP, S&P CSA, MSCI, ISS, Sustainalytics, Bloomberg, and others. This includes:

Completing annual surveys and analyses of rater/ranker scores

Conducting regular gap analyses on key ESG disclosures and rankings to identify and prioritize areas of opportunity.

Support external disclosure via our annual Sustainability and Governance Report and associated data governance and controls.

Discover, analyze, and interpret ESG trends, policies, regulatory actions, and key ESG-related topics, maintaining an understanding of the regulatory landscape.

Lead materiality assessments and strategic stakeholder communications

About you:

B.A, B.S, or equivalent degree experience

7-9 years business experience or equivalent professional experience

Experience implementing performance management strategies in a matrixed environment, driving alignment and progress across large corporate and/or functional teams

Experience in ESG disclosure and corporate reporting, including surveys, annual reports, ratings, reporting standards, requirements, common frameworks, and stakeholder management

Proven ability to research, analyze, interpret trends, and evaluate performance holistically and develop tools/reports to share with leadership

Exceptional problem solving, analytical and data analysis skills

Project management experience juggling multiple projects while maintaining keen attention to detail and carrying out project timelines and budgets.

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to communicate with all levels

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
