Sr Manager, Product Merchandising

The role of the Sr. Manager of Product Merchandising is to own the development and implement the product strategy in alignment with Hanes growth team brand strategy. The role is responsible for directing a team that drives the conception and development of Hanes apparel product lines while achieving both short and long-term goals inclusive of aggressive revenue and profit growth and share growth all while embracing a “challenger brand” mindset, overseeing Omni-Channel product segmentation as well. The Sr. Manager will apply their thorough market knowledge including consumer muses, competitive knowledge, market place trends and working cross-functionally to deliver on strategies and objectives. This role has P&L responsibility as it is accountable for hitting and exceeding standard gross margin targets. The Sr. Manager will work in close collaboration and use their strong influence skills to effectively work with cross functional departments, specifically design, product development, sourcing, manufacturing, sales, consumer insights, marketing communications, DTC, global merchandising, finance and internal manufacturing. The Sr. Manager will work with leadership and be accountable for standard gross profit, life-cycle management, S&OP input, SKU productivity and overall assortment framework planning responsibilities for all apparel product lines which services a critical account base: Amazon, MTDS, E-Comm, DTC, Clubs and offprice.

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing margin aspects of the P&L through a direct and cross-functional team. Leads the development and implementation of the apparel strategy. Leads all gender conceptualization, initiation, merchandising, and product development processes from request through to launch and beyond, including costing and quality evaluation process. Leads the assortment and product conception through the use of framework plans, market and competition analyses, product life-cycle management, sales and customer feedback, gender and channel differentiation requirements as well as efficient SKU/volume plans. Drives and monitors the development of relevant process steps and timelines with consideration of the go-to-market status and key milestones. Embraces and operationalizes new and innovative ways of working including 3D, virtual product, digital showrooms. Ensures product ranges meet our sustainability objectives. Builds meaningful relationships with other regional offices and functions to drive fabric platforms, innovation product consistency and centers of excellence. Leads team to analyze and implement omni-channel product strategies specific to Amazon and .com businesses that capture the consumer needs and drive incremental sales Leads product line briefing through close co-operation with product design & innovation. Collaborates with design and other marketing areas regarding key topics, design, trend, and color concepts, reports and communication. Collaborates with product development and sourcing to select vendors that achieve enable target gross profit achievements and sustainability goals. Collaborate with design and product development partners to meet costing targets on all products developed, including seasonally. Ensure the successful implementation of merchandising strategies by providing direction to design and technical teams. Leads and directs the team in important tasks, set priorities correctly to drive efficiency and decisions. Demonstrates quick decision-making behavior to improve speed to market. Collaborates on the development of the marketing plans and concepts together with the marketing & communications teams through briefings for the communication plan (sell-in / sell-out). Owns and monitors SKU/Style productivity goals and inventory, delivering clarity and efficiency. Responsible for product concepts and their implementation across multiple channels of trade; MTDS, AMZ, DTC and Clubs. Collaborates on product and sales presentations; conduct training on product line related topics. Ensures the quality level demanded by our consumers and customers meets and exceeds expectations in a quick and timely manner. Assists in developing and delivering routine business summaries and reports to senior leadership with clear actions to mitigate risks and capitalize on success. Continuous talent and KPI revisions of the organization’s goals and objectives. Sets clear expectation of team and partners with each team member to achieve.

 

Minimum Education/ Experience

Bachelor's degree with 10+ years relevant work experience OR Master's 8+ years relevant work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree.

 

Specific Skills or Experience Required:

Experience in assortment planning and creation of all relevant areas such as project management, development, design process and line editing In-depth knowledge of the sports apparel and activewear markets, trending and channels. Strong budget management skills Excellent IT skills in MS Office, Outlook, databases, Power Point, Adobe Experience in an international business environment is seen as an asset.
