The Sr Manager, Test Engineer position:
Operational Leadership
Develop and implement production strategies to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQCD) targets. Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring schedules and deadlines are met.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvements as needed.Direct up to 12 reports and prioritize work based on immediate and dynamic business needs. Become qualified on test lane instrumentation to facilitate gun system acceptance testing.Manage five Union tester personnel as part of normal daily operations at the facility.
Safety and Compliance
Enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.Maintain legacy facility buildings, infrastructure, equipment, tools, electronics, and company owned gun systems so that employees are safe and production is not interrupted.
Quality Assurance
Ensure products meet quality standards and regulatory compliance.Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address issues and implement corrective actions.Identify and control all non-conforming production parts discovered while testing.Participate in Root Cause/Corrective action investigations regarding gun system function and testing.
Delivery Optimization
Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.Implement lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Cost Management
Manage department and capital budgets, plan equipment maintenance, and schedule materials to support production goals.Collaborate with Saco operation teams to set priorities and minimize disruptions.Partner with R&D, engineering, and business development teams to align testing with customer demands.Participate in strategic planning and contribute to long-term business growth.Manage dynamic events associated with weather, equipment maintenance, equipment failure, and test personnel while clearly communicating with leadership on cost and production impact.Develop creative solutions for infrastructure improvements and facility maintenance optimization. Major Position Responsibilities Responsible for managing the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of testing procedures and strategies for products, systems, components, or modifications. Acts as advisor to test engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations and acts as a liaison to other engineering functions. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers. Basic QualificationsRequired Education and Experience: Associates Degree and 7 - 8 years experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/ or Experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Discipline/Major: General Engineering or specialized Engineering degree
