Sr Manager - Data Product

As a member of the Global Data & Analytics Team, the Data Product Manager drives the strategic direction and product roadmap for data at Circle K, partnering with multiple departments, including Global Marketing, Category Management, Shared Services & Finance, Global Technology, and Business Unit Leadership, to ensure data is available and usable to meet organizational needs.  This is a unique opportunity to drive the data foundation within a large organization.

The Data Product Manager will deliver advanced data warehousing, data governance and data management solutions that support key business results for Circle K.  They will identify the data required to support priorities for the organization, prioritize the work to accomplish those priorities, and drive the data requirements that continuously improve our data, working collaboratively with teams across the organization across all aspects of the data lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to understand the overall structure and data needs of global initiatives, direct cross-functional teams in defining/refining our approach, interfacing with IT teams for shared projects, and providing roadmap updates of data work.  All of this is accomplished through Agile principles and framework.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with Business and Technology Leaders in development of platforms that support Data Warehousing, Data Governance and Master Data Management.Create and manage the overall strategy for Data Warehousing & Governance platforms, including identification of integration plans for Data platforms with other systems.Manage conversion of Data Product roadmaps into a product plan including epics, features and stories that address defined needs for the roadmapSet overall prioritization of work in product backlogs and align across Data Warehousing & Governance platforms for delivery of data solutions.Create a process to capture change requests and data concerns/questions to ensure efficient review and remediation.Establish and manage the process for quick and timely resolution of issues and incidents.Develop necessary metrics for tracking effectiveness of Data Warehousing & Governance Platform implementation and usage.Align with Business Data Domain Owners and Data Governance Domain Leads on release plans for products and direct Product Owners in delivery of release plans.Recognize intersections of data across domains and initiatives and propose solutions to ensure ongoing alignment.Engage data architecture early in requirements to define functional and nonfunctional requirements that meet the acceptance criteria documented business requirements.Create a strategy around user acceptance testing of data improvements in collaboration with data teams.Create a change management strategy, documentation and reporting to track modifications and improvements to data assets.Support data quality monitoring and reporting efforts to ensure data usability.Collaborate with Data & Analytics Leadership & CK Sr Leadership on development of Data Literacy capabilities and content.Help teams self-organize and self-manage.

Qualifications

College degree strongly preferred in computer science, mathematics, business management, engineering, or other technical field; equivalent experience will also be considered.5-7 years of experience managing data products or data pipelines.3-4 years of experience working in the retail / CPG sector.Background in Data Management, Data Governance or Master Data solutions is preferredExperience building platform products that support many other product teams.Experience identifying and partnering with internal business partners and external vendors.Experience with Agile/Scrum and in use of Jira to manage and organize work.Technical expert in SQL, ETL processes, Tableau, Snowflake, and/or other relational databases or data visualization tools.Demonstrated proficiency with data and ability to analyze patterns and trends to make effective business decisions.Ability to generate requirements from many - often competing – sources.Capability to interface with users from various backgrounds and levels of expertise.Experience as a Servant leader who empowers teams that do not directly report to them.Ability to act independently with a high level of initiative and ownership.Facility to adapt communication approach based on audience and organizational changes.Proven record in gaining buy in from stakeholder groups on initiatives.Proven leadership experience in achieving successful project outcomes.
