Key Responsibilities:

Leadership role: Lead the entire companies energy management and strategy incorporating best practices for energy and sustainability for the company’s 25+ million square foot portfolio of clubs, gas stations, distribution centers and offices.   

Team Management: Collaborate and direct department team members in utilities, facilities, construction, real estate, legal, procurement and finance to manage the operating budget and execute capital investments of over $100m and utility expenses of $80 million annually.

Leadership role: Lead the energy team including internal team members in utilities, facilities, construction, procurement, finance, legal as well as external consultants including Engie invoice processing, Albireo Energy commodity procurement, Max Solar Operation and Management and others.  Develop new energy management strategies for the company to reduce energy consumption and related expense and other best practices for energy and sustainability of the company’s entire real estate portfolio.  

Regulatory compliance: Ensure measuring and reporting of energy data to comply with all governmental regulations federal, state, and local municipalities.

Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage budgets for energy consumption, forecasting future needs, mitigating expense and controlling costs to ensure financial efficiency.

Contract Management: Negotiate and manage energy contracts with all energy providers, utilities, solar, EV chargers and any future technologies to secure favorable terms, optimize energy consumption conservation and expense reduction.

Safety and Compliance: Implement safety protocols and emergency response plans for energy management systems to protect property, public health and safety.

Staff Leadership: Lead and manage utility specialist and coordinate with facilities, finance and legal.

Project Management: Plan and oversee energy infrastructure projects, including 10 new clubs, 15 new gas stations per year, LED and case replacement lighting upgrades, solar systems, EV chargers etc.

Sustainability: Manage existing and develop new energy generation, consumption and conservation technologies for all company including solar, EV, battery, demand response and other opportunities. 

Solar program: Management and expansion of the companies 53 existing solar systems and future the development of 3 to 4 new solar arrays annually @ $2m per project.

Qualifications:

Education: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.

Experience: Several years of experience in energy management, procurement and sustainability. 

Skills: Strong leadership, project management, contract negotiation and analytical skills.

Reports to:  SVP of Real Estate and Property Development

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $125,500.00.
