Sr Manager of Site Operations

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Sr. Manager of Site Operations to be responsible for the manufacturing site’s achievement of safety, quality, delivery, profitability, and people development performance.  This person oversees all daily operations of the manufacturing site, including but not limited to Safety, Quality, Planning, Production, Warehouse, Distribution, Facilities and Maintenance.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our St. Louis, MO office.

What we’re looking for: 

Education:Bachelors degree, preferably in Engineering or Operations related field.Experience:10+ years related experience, with 5+ years in a supervisory capacity.Experience in batch specialty chemical or cGMP manufacturing operations is preferred.Additional Qualifications: Experience with operational excellence tools, such as Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, etc. is required.Experience with enterprise resource planning and warehouse management systems, such as SAP or Oracle, is preferred.Strong leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a total quality team environment.Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.Knowledge and application of Root Cause Analysis.Proven success in a team oriented, matrix organization.Ability to learn various data base and MRP systems.Ability to manage and continuously improve processes.High energy and eagerness to drive improvements.Strong interpersonal, team building, communication and presentation skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Maintain a safe work environment, ensure site follows all safety and environmental regulations, and builds a safety focused culture.Ensure all compliance needs are met, including supporting and enforcing quality system and regulatory policies, work instructions, and applicable regulatory requirements.Ensure daily coordination and alignment across all departments in completing production orders safely and on time, while meeting all quality and regulatory requirements.Implement relevant operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities, enable decision-making, and track performance in a fact-based manner; ensures these metrics are maintained and reported appropriately.Work with Planning, Product Development, and Commercial to ensure warehouse and production capacity is aligned with open orders, forecasted demand, and business development efforts.Develop and execute strategies to improve asset and people productivity and efficiency, including but limited to streamlining workflows and material movement, reducing unproductive time, and optimizing equipment utilization.Ensure warehouse is organized, and that inventory quantities and locations are accurate.Ensure equipment reliability and performance meets the needs of the business.Work with Finance to develop and cascade site-wide and department level budgets, driving strategies to reduce costs and allocating spend in the most efficient manner to achieve financial targets.Develop a 3-year capital plan for the site, and assemble compelling and credible capital expense project proposals.Responsible for relevant communications with associates at the site on topics such as site objectives, Avantor global messaging, and other topics as appropriate.Develop a high performing, collaborative, and accountable team across departments and functions.Responsible for associate development, timely and balanced performance reviews of direct organization, and leadership succession planning.Ensure staff is properly onboarded and trained to safely, effectively, and efficiently complete their job while complying with company and regulatory policies and procedures.Drive the development, initiation, and/or improvement of products, processes, equipment, or technology.Maintain discipline and morale; consults and advises managers regarding employee problems and necessary disciplinary actions; handle employee complaints in accordance with company policy.Assist in the development of, provides input to, and support Avantor strategic plans and projects as appropriate.Perform other duties as assigned.
