Role and Responsibility:
Accountable to resolve constraints impacting delivery at GE Aerospace suppliers with technical solutions.
Aligned to Part Family suppliers by technical expertise and region as part of GE Aerospace supplier teams; expected to own the technical performance of assigned suppliers.
Leads cross-functional, high-visibility projects to develop alternate methods and processes for manufacture, develop repairs and reworks, and improve producibility to enable improved delivery of hardware from suppliers.
Responsible to ensure drawings are capable of manufacture as Design for Manufacture Reviewer.
Responsible to ensure suppliers possess the technical capability of producing defect-free parts at rate.
Responsible to support supplier teams on interpretations of drawing requirements, connections to technical communities and tools, and part router reviews versus milestone plans.
Active in supplier selection based on value. Partners with commercial owners to ensure supplier selection provides desired value.
Supports source changes as needed and develops lower performing suppliers.
Responsible for technical mentoring and consult for other manufacturing engineers and supplier teams.
Remote position, ideal candidate lives in the Midwest or Northeast
Willing to travel on-site with suppliers (25-50% of time anticipated).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience) + minimum of 5 years fabrication manufacturing engineering experience
Desired Characteristics:
Extensive experience in manufacturing with deep domain expertise in Fabrications manufacturing for Aerospace hardware, including all types of Forming, Trimming, Joining and Assembly of aluminum, stainless, nickel and cobalt based alloys.
Domain knowledge of the effects to fabrications for Forming, Heat Treat, and Joining, including inspection methods such as functional gages, templates, CMM, and scanning.
Additional experience and expertise is a plus in traditional (milling, turning, broach) and non-traditional (EDM) machining manufacturing.
Experienced problem-solver with bias towards action and ownership to outcomes.
