We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer. **Location/Division Specific Information:** The BioServices Team, Rockville, MD site focuses on the receipt, inventory storage, withdrawal and shipment of biological specimens, samples, clinical agents, and materials from multiple commercial and government clients. **How Will You Make an Impact?:** The Sr Material Handler supports operations by leading, overseeing and guiding the team of Material Handlers for the execution of day-to-day responsibilities and provides training needs for the team. **A Day in the Life:** + Ship outbound materials and facilitate movement of materials, including hazardous materials, across the site + Assist in training peers according to SOPs in the effective use of equipment, methods of storage and retrieval + May process biological samples based on client specifications + Day-to-day multiple repository project coordination **Education** **:** High school diploma or equivalent required. **Experience:** + Required: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field + Preferred: Experience with warehouse equipment **Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:** + Work independently and able to set priorities + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills + Proficient time management and organizational skills required + Ability to trouble shoot facility equipment issues and provide suggestions/solutions for implementation **Physical Requirements / Work Environment** + Work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infections agents, marked changes in temperature + Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols + Able to lift and carry 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs + Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day **What We Offer** **Compensation** + Competitive Hourly Pay Rate + Optional on-call, after hours compensation + Annual performance-based bonus + Annual merit performance-based increase **Excellent Benefits** + Benefits & Total Rewards | Thermo Fisher Scientific (https://jobs.thermofisher.com/global/en/total-rewards) + Medical, Dental, & Vision benefits-effective Day 1 + Paid Time Off & Designated Paid Holidays + Retirement Savings Plan + Tuition Reimbursement + Employee Referral Bonus + Career Advancement Opportunities **Compensation and Benefits** The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $18.54–$27.81. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
