Sr Mechanical Engineer

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

 

Senior Mechanical Engineer assist in the development, design and testing of new products or systems. They work with a team of other engineers, scientist and technicians on moderately complex projects to ensure that their projects meet all relevant safety standards and specifications. They test mechanical and electromechanical products and systems and are responsible for the mechanical testing and maintenance of products in production, as well as testing prototypes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and others to discuss existing or potential mechanical engineering products or projects and monitor project progress and budget, and prepare reports for upper management performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving mechanical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes Design, control, and implement mechanical systems and products and serve as the primary point of contact with clients for all mechanical engineering project matters. Manage the development and implementation of mechanical systems Write reports and compile data regarding existing and potential mechanical engineering projects and studies and provide technical support to other departments and personnel as needed Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities Establish construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations Ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing mechanical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps and investigate and resolve project issues in a timely manner  Prepare specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials and estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation Other duties as assigned or may be necessary Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

Strong understanding of GD&T principles Mechanical and technical skills Analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software Written and verbal communication skills Organizational skills and attention to detail Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software Education & Experience

 

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program OR Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license AND 4 years of relevant experience
