Your involvement in sales and margin forecasts, promotional performance analysis, inventory management, and vendor relationships will play a critical role in obtaining goals while maintaining PetSmart’s reputation in the market as a trusted partner to pet parents. About the Job About the Position The Sr Merch Corporate Planning Analyst is a key leader driving analysis around Merchandise performance, corporate initiative forecasting and measurement, competitive and market growth/changes along with extensive ad-hoc modeling and forecasting. This position requires an exceptional analytical skill set along with business acumen to effectively analyze the business and make impactful recommendations. The Sr Merch Corporate Planning Analyst will be responsible for using data and predictive analytics to drive profitable course of action and to set the analytical foundation for financial plans and targets. In addition to that, this role will: Collaborate with teams across the enterprise including Merch Planning & Allocation (MP&A), Buying, Finance, Supply Chain, Digital, Customer Experience, Marketing, and more to measure performance of initiatives and make recommendations. Lead the identification of risk and opportunities and communicate in a timely manner to the business, recommending strategies to achieve financial goals and protect inventory investments. Integrate all processes and systems to fully optimize plan accuracy, efficiency, and inventory productivity. Execute extensive data mining to consolidate and clearly communicate analytical findings and recommendations. Experience/Education Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field with 2+ years of work experience; or 5+ years of related professional experience and/or training Retail industry experience preferred Skills and Abilities Self-directed, independent thinker with exceptional analytical skills and high attention to detail Understanding of retail metrics and knowledge of merchandise planning practices (e.g., revenue/margin components, alignment of assortment, inventory, and promotional strategies) preferred Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite including intermediate/expert level Excel and PowerPoint skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to partner effectively across departments and present recommendations and influence business decisions at various levels Proficient in SQL including complex joins, aggregations, and subqueries Experience with Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Snowflake a plus Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation a plus About the Culture At PetSmart, we work hard to create a culture where every associate feels like they truly belong and we celebrate the unique stories, backgrounds, and experiences our associates share.
