Sr. Merchandise Financial Planner
Essential Function
This role oversees the planning and forecasting of the highest volume and most complex areas of the business. Responsible for the segment reconciliation of category forecast and plans to ensure the aggregate of the team’s work meets the company’s goals for sales, margin, and turn.
Key partner to Merchandising and Planning & Allocation Leadership on communication, cross functional collaboration and alignment regarding business analysis, process, and driving financial accountability.

Primary Duties
Leads topline direction on forecasting/and planning activities for sales, inventory, and profit to meet budgetary requirements for total segment in addition to their individual area of responsibility.
Partner and collaborate closely with Merchandising and P&A Leadership to align on the financial needs of the business, special project/analysis needs, and over all process among the cross functional groups.
Weekly/monthly communication with Finance partners on Merchant actions or changes to the financials that would impact the P&L. This would include changes in revenue, margin, or cash flow projections.
Support Financial Leadership in developing and training other team members
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
College degree (BA or BS)
7+ years’ experience in merchandising planning, inventory management or finance, with experience in managing a budget for sales, margin, and inventory
Retail or consumer good industry experience and experience in cross functional leadership and development of others preferred
Advanced Excel skills, experience working with large datasets and scenario modeling
Excellent analytical skillset with attention to detail
Strong organizational skills including prioritizing team responsibilities, scheduling, time management of self and direct reports, and meeting deadlines
Able to prepare and present detailed forecasts and financial modeling to merchandise business partners and senior leadership, communicating market dynamics, retail trends, and the impact to category and company strategy

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
