Are you in? **Primary Purpose** **PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION** ComEd This position acts as the single point of accountability for electric, substation engineering activities within the company. Leads and directs the personnel and activities of the Substation Engineering organization, to optimize the engineering and design activities of the Substation Engineering group ensuring adherence to company standards while using technical expertise to maximize system reliability balanced with an understanding of the financial impact. Responsible to ensure contractors provided engineering services meet the design criteria, technical requirements and established standards. Responsible for the engineering and design basis of substation equipment and systems for the company. Directs and enforces requirements for engineering standards used by external customers and independent power producers connecting to the system. Responsible for the material condition of substation equipment. Perform engineering analysis to recommend component replacement or upgrade to improve system reliability. Departmental activities include engineering, design, and technical expertise of T&S equipment and facilities to optimize equipment operation and in support of the T&S field organization. PECO This position acts as the single point of accountability for electric transmission, substation and relaying engineering and design activities within the company. Leads and directs the personnel and activities of the Substation Engineering organization, to optimize the engineering and design activities of the Substation Engineering group ensuring adherence to company standards while using technical expertise to maximize system reliability balanced with an understanding of the financial impact. Responsible to ensure contractors provided engineering services meet the design criteria, technical requirements and established standards. Responsible for the engineering and design basis of transmission and substation equipment and systems for the company. Directs and enforces requirements for engineering standards used by external customers and independent power producers connecting to the system. Departmental activities include engineering, design, and technical expertise of T&S equipment and facilities to optimize equipment operation and in support of the T&S field organization. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. **Primary Duties** **PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES** + Drives and oversees the development and implementation of short and long term strategic and tactical business and labor initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve Exelon's safety, reliability and performance goals. + Manages the overall budget. Establishes and monitors business plans and business unit objectives. Balances cost control with appropriate capital and maintenance investments. + Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and a learning organization that values Diversity and Inclusion. Develops methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives. + Provide leadership to and development of the Substation Engineering team. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. + Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments in Exelon, the regional operating companies and the local communities. **Job Scope** **JOB SCOPE** + ComEd: Responsible for a staff of 5 direct reports with a total of 49 employees consisting of 4 managers, 34 professionals, and 11 designers. + PECO: Responsible for a staff of 13 direct reports with a total of 44 employees consisting of 2 managers, 1 supervisor, 20 professionals, 8 designers and 1 administrative support + Responsible for all of the company's electric substation assets covering a service territory of over 11,000 square miles including 3,600,000 customers. + Responsible for engineering, design and installation of approved substation projects. Assures compliance to regulatory requirements and manages the design basis of the company's transmission (PECO), and substation (ComEd and PECO) assets. Area of responsibility is complex in nature and requires a solid understanding of associated technology. + Provides input into maintenance program requirements and supports the execution of $67 million of preventive, corrective, and reliability maintenance expenditures associated with over 840 Transmission and Distribution substations. + Monitor and analyze equipment data trends to recommend and implement modifications of processes, procedures, specifications and/or standards to improve reliability and performance of existing equipment. + Provide expertise to determine equipment failure analysis and subsequent corrective actions for improved equipment performance. + Responsible for providing 24x7 technical support for materials, equipment, design, maintenance and construction standards, regulatory codes, and forensics analysis to internal customers ranging from front line electrician to vice president. + Responsible for the organization's response to emergent activities, catastrophic events and storms. + Actions have direct impact on safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction goals, the transmission revenue stream, the generation revenue stream of Exelon, and the public, political, and regulatory opinion of the company. + Operates autonomously with wide latitude for un-reviewed actions and decisions. Establishes performance goals and expectations, coaches, mentors and provides feedback to direct reports. + Maintains effective internal business controls by conducting audits, self-assessments, investigations and employee reviews. + Builds strategic alignment with senior management, Exelon Nuclear & key management peers (DSO, TSO, C&M, P&CM) and T&S associates. + Meet with regulators and government officials as necessary to support substation engineering practices. + Influence substation industry standards and specifications through department support and participation on national standards making bodies and research activities. + Other external contacts include co-generation and other key customers, substation equipment vendors, regulators, auditors and various municipal authorities (fire, police, city mayors, etc.). ComEd: Direct Reports: 5 Indirect Reports: 44 Total Budget: $6M PECO: Direct Reports: 13 Indirect Reports: 32 Total Budget: $6M **Minimum Qualifications** **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** + Education - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. + Experience - At least 10 years of industry experience, including 3-5 years as an electric T&D supervisor and/or manager. + Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver's license + Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues. + Skills: Proven leadership ability in a high-performance culture, including coaching and facilitating business competency and performance management skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build consensus, establish trust, and foster culture change and inclusion. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.
