Overview This position manages a team of engineers, economists, statisticians, and data scientists who support high-profile decisions primarily related to the planning and operation of the Companies’ generation portfolio with advanced modeling, risk management, and specialized expertise. Because these decisions typically involve long-term investments in the order of hundreds of millions of dollars, they are intensely scrutinized and routinely require approval in a contentious regulatory environment. This position requires an understanding of advanced modeling methods for assessing resource adequacy and developing long-term resource plans that are constantly evolving due to the energy transition. In addition to an understanding of advanced modeling methods, this position must leverage an understanding of technology, financial analysis, and risk management to incorporate the real-world challenges of permitting, constructing, and operating a generation fleet to ensure that model results are executable. #LGE&KU #INDLGE Responsibilities •Manage and develop a team of economists, statisticians, data scientists, and engineers to perform generation resource planning activities including studies that determine the need for major capital investments. •Manage the department’s contributions to regulatory filings in Kentucky and Virginia, and ensure the contributions are consistent over time and across jurisdictions. •Demonstrate to regulators that the Companies’ planning process contemplate key issues and is sophisticated and thoughtful. •Direct department operations and projects to ensure that quality and timeliness objectives are achieved.
