Service Team Leader

Your role and responsibilities

Under the direction of MV Drives Service Manager, MV Drives technical support will provide onsite and offsite support and expertise in response to a variety of site work requests, telephone calls and emails regarding installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and programming questions and to technical problems encountered by users of ABB Medium Voltage drives and systems. This in turn results in different actions on the part of the individual depending on the specific circumstances of each case. Execution is performed in a timely manner.The work model for the role is: Remote #LI-RemoteThis role is contributing to the Motion division in the You will be mainly accountable to:•\tProvide technical support for more complex problems. Act as the technical liaison with other departments to address and resolve the more complex inquiries and problems.•\tPerform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of ABB Medium Voltage (MV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).•\tInvestigate problems and independently initiate effective measures for their solution. •\tCoordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction. •\tParticipate proactively in contributing feedback regarding product quality issues to reduce warranty costs. •\tCarry out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, and documentation as required. •\tUpdate ABB case management system with every technical case and update installed base database accordingly. Submit completed, detailed, and comprehensive service reports in a timely manner and follows up when needed.•\tCoaches and provides technical guidance to fellow colleagues, departments, and customers.•\tCommunicate effectively and present information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

Qualifications for the role

\tAssociate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical program and 10 years experience in installing, testing, repairing or troubleshooting AC/DC drive systems and their associated controls.\tAbility to interpret circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, technical manuals, and technical specifications.\tAbility to travel up to 50% of the time.\tMaintain a valid driver’s license.\tWilling to provide technical support during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule.\tPreferred Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, experience with MV Drives, knowledge of power electronics, motors, transformers, switch gears, and computer network communication protocol and theory of operation. \tWork Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions; performs work related travel; and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and sit; use hands to manipulate and control tools, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and taste or smell.
