Sr Pr Mechanical Engineer

Air Products has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Principle Mechanical Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania, or Houston, Texas office.

Required Skills / Abilities:

Experience with manufacturing design and fabrication drawings

Experience with pressure vessel design software such as COMPRESS

Experience with stress analysis software such as AutoPIPE, Caesar, FEA etc. is preferred

Experience with Fatigue analysis or HTRI heat exchanger design software is a plus

Code Committee memberships are desirable

EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experience is preferred

Key Job Responsibilities:

Specification of various non-rotating equipment including heat exchangers, reactors, columns, fired heaters, and tanks.

Review and validate supplier calculations and drawing for purchased equipment compliance to codes and specifications.

Completing pressure boundary calculations to meet specific codes (e.g. ASME). Detailed analysis of wind, seismic, shipping and support designs are also required.

Providing operating plant support for the Process Gas business. This support requires interacting with Operations personnel to solve plant problems with equipment

Vendor inspections and construction/start-up support may be required which include trips to vendors and plant locations worldwide.

Support of product development and R&D initiatives is also a requirement.

Actively collaborate with internal AP teams and external third-parties to meet project commitments, costs, and schedules. Support equipment and labor estimates for proposed projects and bidding activities.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering

5-10 years of experience in the design of heat exchangers

7-15 years of experience in the design of pressure vessels.

Registered Professional Engineer in at least one state of the United States a plus

Strong technical skills in the design of pressure vessels and heat exchangers

Strong working knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger design codes including ASME BPVC Section VIII, TEMA, GB, etc.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability for travel to plant sites, EPC offices, and vendor shops (expected travel up to 10%)
