Analysis
Conduct analysis to support pricing initiatives, adding rigor to existing methodologies and developing key metrics and analytics to support pricing strategy and tactics.Gather data and perform complex analyses manipulating large data sets to create thoughtful, robust business analyses.Analyze issues, develop insights, and formulate data-based hypotheses.Present findings to leadership and Category Merchant partners during strategy sessions.Support Director Pricing Advisory in creating reports and in data analysis.Promotion Pricing Analysis:
Working with Category Merchants, develop pre-season promotion strategies to optimize sales and gross margin in alignment with company goals.Utilize internal Discount Optimization Tool for historical performance and other data sources to develop reports and strategic insights that GMMs and Category Merchants can use to improve promotion performance. Work with GMM, Category Merchant, and Director to analyze results and recommend shifts in promotion strategies for both in-season and future promotions.Prepare and coordinate Markdown Optimization Process.Regular Price Strategy and Analysis:
Work with Pricing Directors, Pricing Managers, Category Management to develop pricing lines and ladders within a category for value perception to the customer.Become the pricing expert in understanding the competitive landscape. Using data scraping web tools for tracking internet pricing and in person comp shops to make recommendations for in store shelf pricing to maintain Michaels competitive advantage.Work alongside the Pricing Analytics team to measure results of price changes, and price tests.Monitor and analyze performance by category and market to make recommendations on future tests to run and actions to roll out to the chain.Clearance Price Strategy and Analysis:
Work closely with Category Merchants and Merchandise Planning to develop an optimized clearance cadence strategy across the chain of stores to time with in-store category resets.Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
BS in Business, Math, Statistics or FinanceMinimum Special Certifications or technical skills
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including vlookups, pivot tables, comfort with writing formulas, etc.Minimum Type of experience the job requires
Minimum 5 years in BusinessAnalyst role in an analytical functionPreferred Special Certifications or technical skills
Experience with utilizing internal data warehouse systems to pull data metrics for analysis.Experience with price web scraping tools a plusPreferred Type of experience the job requires
Retail experience as a pricing expert, planner, assistant buyer, analyst preferred.Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.
