Your Role at Baxter

The Sr Principal Engineer will explore, develop and deliver innovative healthcare solutions in alignment with the Clinical Nutrition strategic direction and operational priorities. As a key contributor of the engineering development team, the Sr Principal Engineer will apply a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside the primary area of expertise toward the development of new or enhanced products or processes, as well as on-market product. Plans, executes and functionally directs important engineering assignments, which require independent judgment.

What You'll be doing

Highly proficient in system engineering principles, methods, and techniques such as Requirements Management, Risk Management and Configuration ManagementWithout appreciable direction, responsible for directing and coordinating all activities necessary to complete a large-scale program or several small projects. Identify and analyze design problems to achieve optimal solutions that satisfy cost and technical requirements using both internal and external technical resources. Formulate new, innovative approaches to solve technical problems on a consistent basis.Create and communicate project plans, tasks and deliverables and manage time to meet project deadlines.  This includes reporting pertinent information at key milestones through clear, concise oral and written communications.Provide technical supervision to lower level systems engineers and other technical personnel.Performs financial planning and assists in the analysis to justify project approval.Champions new design and process improvements (e.g. DFSS) that impact the business.

What you'll bring

Must have experience and display a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside primary area of expertise. (e.g. hardware design, total quality management, statistical methods, problem analysis and resolution, materials science, design of experiments, software development)Completely proficient in relevant products or process development processes.Successful track record of managing wide-ranging activities within the business unit and strong leadership skills.Recognized as a technical expert by peers and other personnel within the business unit.Extensive cross-functional team experience, including technical and non-technical work.Ability to organize and present technical and project management overviews without assistance.B.S. degree in Engineering and 8-10 years of experience. M.S. degree in Engineering preferred.Demonstrated success in delivering results on several technical challenges.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $120,000 to $11,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
