Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is looking for a Senior Principal Software Developer Lead in support of an emerging opportunity related to Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) and Electromagnetic Battle Management (EMBM). The work location is either Ft. Meade, MD or Annapolis, MD.

The Software Developer Lead institutes development quality standards for the entire software development team, takes on the most challenging coding assignments, is a resource for more junior developers, and performs code reviews of others’ work in support of program objectives. The ideal candidate will be a cross-functional team player, willing to take on challenges, who collaborates with internal and external teams, and is driven to provide solutions to internal and external customers.

This position is contingent upon program award.

Responsibilities Include:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions while ensuring software standards are metMaintain and improve the software CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, bug free delivery of critical business software to productionSet up and deploy Development, Test, and Build environmentsInstall, test, and verify software productsProvide support for the software build and deploymentWork within a Cross-Functional scrum team to develop high-priority software features and capabilitiesUnderstand third-party software to support implementation of software interfaces and support integrationCollaborate and assist in the development of software test products such as Verification Cross Reference Matrices to tie software requirements to software tests, Software Test Plans, Software Test Procedures, and Software Test ReportsAssist defining and development of test approaches for new software and system capabilitiesResolve technical issues within individual scrum teams, across program scrums, and with the support of other functional rolesInterface on a technical level with the customer on a regular basisSupport authoring and development of contract deliverable documentation that support deliverable software products and test events

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related technical degree plus and/or equivalent 5 years’ experience.Current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance (adjudicated within the last 5 years), with ability to obtain a Top Secret /SCI (w/ Polygraph) security clearance5 or more years of experience developing applications using modern coding languages.Understanding of latest development and data management techniques.Ability to establish development vision for the team.3 or more years of experience leading coding and technical reviews.3 or more years of experience leading developers in DevSecOps environment.Experience with software IntegrationExperience supporting/coordinating formal software development test eventsAutomated test script or test procedure development and maintenance for software testingA functional understanding of how revision control systems (e.g., BitBucket, git, CVS, etc.) are usedHands-on software system troubleshooting skillsStrong interpersonal and analytic skills; Works well in a team-environmentExperience of creating/maintaining DevOps CI/CD pipelines: Jenkins, Concourse, Maven, Bamboo

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM degree, and 12 years’ experience; or Master’s degree and 8 years’ experienceCertified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) certification.Experience leading or in a key technical role on previous Agile Software Development teamsExperience with Microservice development and service communication protocols such as gRPC and/or REST3+ years’ experience with/using Agile Methodology and Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) Tools (Bamboo, Jenkins) and Practices5+ years’ experience in one or more Object Oriented Programing, showing proficiency

Salary Range: $131,000.00 - $196,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
