We are looking for you to join our team as a Sr. Principal Supplier Quality Engineer (T4) based in Charlottesville, VA.
This is a full-time onsite position and may require up to 50% travel.
This position is part of our Supplier Performance Management (SPM) team and reports directly to the Manager Supplier Quality, Naval & Oceanic Systems (N&OS) business unit. The qualified candidate will support all programs at the site.
What you will get to do:
Be responsible for supplier quality risk management – implementing proactive supplier performance management strategy.Develop and implement supplier quality evaluation and control systems.Assure supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.Interface directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing supplier manufacturing processes and procedures.Conduct product and process verification activities, monitor supplier quality performance, and drive root cause corrective action (RCCA) for supplier quality issues.Support the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically review performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list.Manage supplier requests for waivers, deviations, and requirement changes.Keep management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks.Coordinate and oversee Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases.Actively engage in supplier evaluation, qualification, and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs.Reviews program contracts and interfaces with Program Quality Engineering to assure proper requirements flow down to suppliersManages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.Reports on supplier performance to site stakeholders through recurring Material Corrective Action Board (MATCAB) meetingsDrives affordability through monitoring of budget and spend.Travels to suppliers as required to achieve positive outcomesFosters a collaborative culture that sustains momentum around engagement, problem solving, and continuous improvement.Serves as a “strong voice for quality” and a role model for NG ValuesMay be asked to support programs at other sites within the business unit.Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Supplier Quality Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or related STEM discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in disciplines such as quality, supply chain, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering (OR 6 or more years of relevant work experience in disciplines such as quality, supply chain, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering with a Master's Degree).Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance.US Citizenship Required.Preferred Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Supplier Quality Engineer:
Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.Master’s Degree in an engineering field.Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt.ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Quality Auditor (CQA).Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities.Defense industry experience, including interfacing with suppliers.Experience in a quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing role.SAP Business System experience..Current active DoD SECRET clearance, or higherSalary Range: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
