Reviews and analyzes general ledger account balances. Performs financial level approval and review for purchase requests submitted through Ushop (the University’s main purchasing system), ePR (Electronic Payment Request), and other systems used by the department. 2. Reviews all transactions for accuracy, sufficient funding and proper approvals. 3. Reconciles external financial data with University data and resolves discrepancies. 4. Assists with reviewing, researching, and processing wire payments as needed. 5. Answers questions, helps correct errors, resolves accounting related issues and provides financial or other information as requested. 6. Assists client departments with year-end closing to ensure adjustments and accruals are properly recorded. 7. Interprets policies and recommends internal controls. 8. Provides guidance to colleagues in the Finance, Research Administration, and General Administration departments. **Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required** Nearly Continuously: Office environment. **Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required** Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking. Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead. **Minimum Qualifications** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus two years professional accounting experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices, knowledge of accounting software, advanced spreadsheet skills, the ability to write queries and macros and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills.
