We are seeking a Senior Technical Manager\nof R&D Engineering to define and drive the next generation of research,\ndevelopment, and maturation of technologies in support of advanced materials\nand coatings specifically relevant to aerospace applications. Product\napplications include High Temperature and High Wear Resistance Coatings for a\nwide range of product applications including gas turbine engines, high\ntemperature electrical devices, and hypersonic components.
This role is located in Morris Plains,\nNew Jersey. The Senior Technical Manager collaborates\nclosely with Director level leadership and maintains a strong network of technical\ncontacts at our customers, government agencies, research labs, universities,\nand Honeywell global engineering centers. Career growth and advancement is\nenabled by partnering with Product Offering Directors, the Technology Strategy\n& Innovation organization, Chief Engineers, and Fellows to develop\ntechnology roadmaps, pursuit plans, and partnership opportunities. The Senior Technical\nManager understands the strategic needs of the enterprise, identifies and evaluates\nrelevant technologies, and collaborates across multiple locations to deliver\nmature, risk-reduced technologies to the Engineering Center of Excellence on\nschedule for incorporation into products.

Key Responsibilities

Lead\n 8+ direct reports (4+ with PhD) at the Morris Plains NJ site in\n innovation, development, scale up, and manufacturing readiness of\n technologies and products involving advanced materials and coatings.Technology\n applications include gas turbine engine components; high temperature and high          wear/corrosion/oxidation resistant coatings; carbon-carbon composite\n systems for thermal management; and hypersonic material systems.Annual Budget responsibility $5M including technology project portfolio + capital projects + department expense.Business Impact: The selected candidate will get the unique opportunity to expand and mentor a talented, diverse team in maturing cutting-edge technologies that push the boundaries of innovation and advance Breakthrough Initiatives that directly impact business growth in a highly visible role.Drive collaboration across Aerospace and the Honeywell Strategic Business Groups (SBGs), and lead technology development projects to Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL6) and Manufacturing Readiness Level 6 (MRL6).Perform as the Aerospace representative in support of the: site leader, facilities leader, and safety leader.Must lead and operate in a safety-first manner. Instill this mindset in the team and culture.Support\n a multimillion-dollar portfolio of technology development programs that\n are funded internally, externally, or through cost-share contracts.Develop\n a robust pursuit pipeline and win external contracts each year valued at $1M+\n in total effort that are aligned with roadmaps and business strategies.Meet\n the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for engineering revenue, recovery, IR&D\n investment (“RDE”), capital investment, and schedule milestones.Define\n and drive a management operating system that ensures department and\n project performance in alignment with internal and external stakeholder requirements.Attract,\n develop, and retain diverse top talent to enable a high-performing\n innovative team using tools including: Management Resource Review (MRR), Technical\n Resource Review (TRR), pay-for-performance differentiation based on results and behaviors, bi-annual performance reviews, progression & salary\n planning processes, and acting on Voice Of Employee survey feedback.Responsible\n for managing resource demand & capacity, staffing the department\n effectively, identifying & leading cross-department initiatives, and defining\n a Global Strategic FrameworkCollaborate\n with the Technology Strategy group, Chief Engineers, Fellows, and Business\n Enterprise teams to develop technology roadmaps with linkage to product\n roadmaps, strategic plans (STRAP), customer pursuits, and platform\n insertion targets.Comprehension\n of the technology capabilities and business objectives with the ability to\n interact with customers and stakeholders at a senior management leadership\n level up to Vice PresidentsIdentify\n and engage with key strategic partners including academic institutions to\n bring technologies and talent back to Honeywell.Persuade\n internal and external parties to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.Must\n be positive and proactive, supportive of company goals and objectives,\n supportive of other members of the management team, tolerate ambiguity,\n and effectively work in a fast paced, agile environment.Travel\n required: 10%, mostly US domestic.U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

You Must Have

Bachelor\n of Science in Engineering (or related field) with an emphasis in Materials,\n Chemistry, Mechanical, or Aerospace.6+\n years of experience in technology development & application, or new product\n development.4+\n years of experience managing personnel as direct reports.High temp materials or ceramic materials experience Proven\n track record of technical leadership and project managementAble\n to qualify for a US security clearance.Able\n to work in a Honeywell office 5 days per week.
