Sr Reinsurance Accountant

UFG is currently seeking a Senior Reinsurance Accountant. This role provides an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, collaborative environment positioned in our Reinsurance Accounting team as part of the finance function. This individual will actively participate in select Reinsurance Accounting activities (financial, operational, information technology, data quality, internal control activities, treaty economic analysis), as well as drive a variety of reinsurance modernization and financial operations activities.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the review, communication and settlement of treaty reporting as well as resolve related inquiries Book monthly journal entries to record reinsurance activity in the general ledger Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders such as auditors, regulators, and other departments to facilitate effective communication and collaboration Oversee and prepare quarterly and annual Schedule F filings Monitor letters of credit and trust accounts to assure appropriate collateral is in place Identify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency in reinsurance reporting Support audits by providing necessary documentation, data, and information to internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy Work with business leaders and others within the Finance department to ensure that the general ledger accurately reflects reinsurance transactions for internal and external reportingQualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredExperience:
3 + years of experience in P&C Reinsurance AccountingKnowledge, skills & abilities:
General knowledge of accounting/financial/operational principles Knowledge of both statutory and GAAP accounting principles preferred Knowledge of various forms of P&C reinsurance, contracts, and complex calculations Inquisitive nature and willingness to challenge the status quo Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities Superior attention to detail with a strategic mindset Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities and assignments and deadline driven Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and WordWorking Conditions:
