Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that align with organizational goals. **JOB DESCRIPTION** **Salary Grade: G06** **Minimum Midpoint Maximum** **$74,796 - $100,975 - $127,152** **SUMMARY:** Safety is a core business value, and part of a strong safety program is data driven approach to identifying and managing risks. Responsible for the timely, accurate and relevant analysis related to the safety aspect of PNMR operations, including administering systems. Plays a vital role in improving safety, acting as the sole source of safety data. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** Processes and evaluates data to provide meaningful information to define measure and monitor changes to our operations that improve safety and reliability Converts raw data into useful information using proven data analytics technics that can include statistical sampling, trend analysis and data cleansing Manages and maintains the storage of safety information Provides information, reports, etc. as needed for any legal requirements, including annual OSHA 300 reporting Gathers and analyzes safety information skillfully, and develop alternative solutions for end users Develops analytical methods and reporting capabilities that support objectives and strategy of corporate safety initiatives Conducts trend analysis and identification of safety focus areas and presents results to management Collects data as needed and participate in RCA (Root Cause Analysis) investigations related to safety events Tracks and reports leading and/or lagging indicators and benchmarks against utility and other industries as directed by management, working with other utilities to gain an understanding of best practices Serves as administrator and SME (Subject Matter Expert), interfacing between vendor and company. Identifies issues in the application(s), develop an understanding of updates, and work with BTS to get the changes implemented Ability to employ creative problem-solving techniques covering a wide variety of topics both in and out of the immediate areas of responsibility Maintains the safety department's web presence, dashboards or other repository of data, as well as collaborates with communications group to fully develop electronic alternatives to promote strategic communications methods via various methods Protects confidential safety-related information ensuring that data repositories maintain proper security measures to protect confidential records **COMPETENCIES:** This position requires an individual with the skills, patience, and tact to gain detailed understanding of safety events. Uses project management and business analyst skills to ensure projects in the group deliver as planned Ability to Identify, research, and recommend new software packages and techniques for safety data Prepares complex, graphic presentations (Power Point, Visio, Graphs) to express results of benchmarking and other analytics Ability to identify potential risk and safety issues developing mitigation strategies Ability to perform thorough safety risk assessments of various processes and departments Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends/patterns in complex data sets Ability to work with complex data, and make analytical judgment and recommendations Project Management and skills in working with end users to develop solutions to business needs Ability to think clearly, critically, decisively and to work under minimal direction Strong ability to speak in public groups, write complex documents and accurately conveying information A history of advanced data analytics processing of raw data to information that can include large data sets Team player with the ability to work on own initiatives and concurrently support other team members and projects A strong understanding of the electric industry's business processes and operations Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and Safety Management System Preferred knowledge of PNM and TNMP Employee Safety Manual, and related policies and procedures Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment in the coordination of tasks for analytics and administrative coordination **QUALIFICATIONS** **MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:** Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in computer science, risk management, business administration with seven or more years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. PMP or similar Project Management certification Evidence of advanced training in Data Analytics **COMMUNICATION SKILLS:** Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to respond effectively and confidentially to highly sensitive inquiries or requests for informational data Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationship with employee groups **MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:** Ability to apply probability and statistical data concepts to identify trends and relationships within the data Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations **COMPUTER SKILLS:** Advanced practical knowledge and experience using MS Excel, Power Point, Word, and PeopleSoft Demonstrated proficiency in database management and analysis systems Skills using ODBC or other data extract tools Understanding of SQL databases and using SQL queries to effectively extract data Extraction of data using complex queries and advanced database tools to provide meaningful reports Specialization in data software with strong technical skills to collect, analyze and interpret safety related data Strong Project management skills Ability to apply basic concepts of mathematics and statistics in the development of spreadsheet applications Advanced Excel skills such as logical function, data function and text function that incorporate macros and/or pivot tables and referencing data between sheets and workbooks **ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:** Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
