The Sr Security Specialist designs, carries out and monitors security interests for management initiatives and projects. Leads the planning, development and administration of security procedures and training programs for classified or proprietary materials, products, services, documents, and equipment. Assures that training and internal practices, procedures, and policies comply with National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)/Department of Energy (DOE) orders and any other applicable policies pertaining to security. Conducts audits, surveys, special studies, and prepares security plans and procedures Interacts with NNSA, DOE Headquarters and other security leadership. Familiar with all security requirements and policy. Interacts with NNSA, DOE Headquarters and other security leadership. May assume duties of Manager when absent from the office.
Duties and Responsibilities\rWorks under consultative direction toward predetermined goals and objectives.Provides technical support regarding security program(s) to include analysis of hazards and threats, compliance, resource requirements, Performance Testing, chemical screening, and Self-Assessments.Interprets DOE Orders, makes recommendations to management and/or implements security policies and procedures and leads and organizes planning teams.Interacts with DOE and other government agencies on matters related to security program(s), governance, risk, and compliance as they relate to Design Based Threat (DBT).Conducts, documents, and communicates risk assessments used in the development of site-specific threat analysis and security countermeasures.Coordinates the reporting of functional performance against initiatives, objectives, and milestones, assuring timely submittal and progress.Advises and supports management in the effective implementation of safety, health, or environmental requirements, as they relate to security, risk, and Design Based Threat (DBT) compliance.Develops and delivers periodic training, and briefings to all levels of management and employees.Thorough knowledge of DOE/NNSA policy and regulations.May guide teams including coordination of activities and personnel providing leadership and direction.Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to 'stop' work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.You Must Have\r5+ years of security experience at a professional or management level. Bachelor's degree in business, law enforcement, education, or two additional years of direct work experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.Ability to travel as determined by the needs of the business.Advanced degree preferred.United States Citizenship.Ability to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).We Value\rExcellent communication (both oral and written), organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.Must be able to interact tactfully with all levels of management and provide project leadership.
