Sr Software Engineer, Backend - Mobility
## _Please note: this hybrid position is based in São Paulo, Brazil - welcoming both local professionals and those open to relocating to São Paulo._ **About the Mobility org:** Mobility is a huge organization with +1000 engineers spread worldwide. This organization is growing a lot their representation in Latam as the region has a fundamental role of developing software products impacting million of users worldwide. We have open positions in many teams within Mobility structure. Take a look at a quick description about each one of them: ## **About the Teams:** - **Fulfillment Platform** The Fulfillment org builds and operates a set of Foundational Technologies and APIs upon which the business is built. Our platform is at the heart of the core trip workflow at Uber and  directly impacts the cost and speed of new product launches. The Fulfillment Foundations team builds, maintains and optimizes the foundational services/frameworks that are used for implementing Uber's core fulfillment flow for both Mobility and Delivery businesses. This team owns and operates some of the most critical Services/APIs at Uber including Realtime Marketplace transactional store on Google Spanner, Real Time Indexing/Search store on Lucene, Realtime Events/Metrics platform, Realtime Rules Engine, among others. We directly support all the business verticals within Uber and the services/platforms are used by hundreds of engineers globally across the company daily. Our services scale up to 1M+ QPS at peak. - **Rider App** Rider time is focused on making Uber’s core ride sharing products faster, safer, and more reliable by building scalable software solutions for riders and drivers on our platform. We are crafting and building the most highly trafficked experiences in the Rider App, including the homescreen, messaging, and core trip flow. As we scale the number of ways riders can use Uber, we’re partnering with UberAI to build Uber’s first personalized surfaces that understand what riders want in real time. ## **Minimum qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **OR** 6-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES** 6-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: - Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) - Note the 6-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated. - Algorithm & Data Structures fundamentals is expected for this position, including hash tables, trees, stacks, queues, linked list, DFS, BFS. - Advanced English language skills are also important since this team will be working with other engineers and stakeholders from different regions around the world. ## **Technical skills:** Preferred: - Scalability engineering - Distributed systems We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently.
