As a Sr. Software Engineer you will focus on building experiences for our core streaming products, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the client as part of our Web Player team. This team is responsible for creating, owning, and supporting our various playback libraries. We support Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and all of our entertainment and streaming properties by building inner-source libraries that deliver video playback!

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

Design and build functionality at the core of our internal video librariesPrototype new features and own delivery from development to productionPartner with other engineering teams to craft solutions at scaleEncourage and drive implementation and utilization of architectural standardsWrite user documentation, review pull requests, mentor junior engineersReview code and pull requests to ensure product and design specifications are metWork with product and project management to refine specs and timelinesGrow an inclusive team culture built around positive intent

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications

BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalentProven understanding of front-end web development technologies and principlesComprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templatingVideo playback experience using modern web technologies and APIsUnderstanding of open source principles and patterns as they pertain to collaborative developmentDemonstrated ability to research and learn new technologiesStrong communication skills and attention to detailDriven and self motivatedMinimum 5 years relevant industry experience

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $142,516 to $191,180 per year and in Los Angeles, CA is $136,100-$182,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
