What You'll Do The Customer Experience Enablement team at Principal has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer II to play a pivotal role in designing and delivering technology solutions that empower our company to create exceptional customer experiences. In this role, you’ll collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, and partners across the enterprise to solve critical business problems and shape the technology strategy for marketing technology, Voice of Customer, and enterprise customer data initiatives. As a key contributor, you’ll use your technical expertise, creativity, and collaborative approach to build impactful solutions that prioritize customer-first outcomes by enabling robust platforms, data engineering, and integrations. You'll have the opportunity to: Design and implement solution architectures and patterns that transform abstract ideas into actionable, innovative technologies Engineer data pipelines to make critical information accessible and actionable for teams and systems Write and maintain software using a variety of languages and platforms (e.g., AWS, Java, Python) Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of customer-focused solutions Lead the integration and management of SaaS products and vendor solutions, such as Qualtrics XM Engage and Discover, Google Analytics, Salesforce CRM, Snowflake, financial aggregators, and RESTful APIs As Principal continues to modernize its systems, this role will offer you an exciting opportunity to build solutions that will directly impact our long-term strategy and tech stack, all while ensuring that our products are robust, scalable, and secure! Who You Are Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) or equivalent experience 8+ years of engineering/technology experience Ability to collaborate, influence, drive technical decisions across all levels of the organization, including peers, cross departmental teams, and senior leadership to align on technical strategies and deliver results Experience with mentorship/informal leadership Passionate about technology and keeping current on emerging trends Skills That Will Help You Stand Out Developing solution architecture and technical design Exceptional adaptability and resilience, with the ability to thrive in dynamic, outcome-focused environments and navigate ambiguity to deliver innovative solutions Ability to integrate and lead vendor solutions effectively Versatility in software engineering across diverse platforms and tools Expertise in data engineering and positioning data for optimal use Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly) $123000 - $167000 / year Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided. Pension Eligible Yes Additional Information Work Environments This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors. Hours This role will partner with our global teams and has an expectation for flexibility in your work schedule to have a frequent start time around 7am CST.
