The Data Scientist will work collaboratively with a team of data scientists, analytics leads, engineers, and product owners throughout a project lifecycle. This work includes data extraction and preparation, feature engineering, model design and development, and everything in between to create value adding solutions that solve real business problems. In this role you will:

Get hands-on with big data as you hack through complex and messy data and analyze it leveraging the latest algorithms and state-of-the-art techniques and tools Use open-source tools and platforms like Anaconda Enterprise, Python, R and SAS to apply algorithms and analytic models to big data problems Develop automated and algorithmic approaches to analyzing data and powering data products and predictions Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, articulate how data science can help achieve objectives, and deliver regular updates Collaborate with Data Science Engineers to operationalize models

What you have

This full-time role will also take part in the nine-month NERD (New Employee Recruitment and Development) program that blends on-the-job experience with an extensive training curriculum that covers tools, technologies, processes, and soft skills required to be successful at Charles Schwab. By pairing the curriculum, on-the-job experience, and a web-of-support from others, NERDs are well prepared to succeed in their role which sets the table for future opportunities at Schwab. What you have

· Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Operations Research, etc.) with a graduation date of June 2025 or earlier

· Ability to start full-time with the program on June 9, 2025

· Statistical Methodology: Knowledge of advanced techniques and concepts such as regression, properties of distributions, time series analysis and modeling, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.

· Machine Learning: Knowledge of, and experience with, designing and implementing algorithms, and the ability to articulate their real-world advantages and drawbacks

· Data Mining and Machine Learning: Knowledge and experience in advanced data mining and modeling techniques, and the ability to articulate their suitability for a given challenge

· Big-picture thinking to probe beyond stakeholders’ requests to understand what is truly needed to capture and drive business value

· Software engineering and code versioning skills

· Data visualization skills

· Passion and interest in solving problems, applying innovation, and experimentation
