This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. Assist the H&S Manager in the implementation and managing of the B/U’s H&S goals and initiatives. Recommend, develop, and implement appropriate H&S programs and activities that enhance the safety and health of Company employees, as well as minimize the Company's exposure to loss. _ *Key Accountabilities*_ * To develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe working environment. * Collaborate with various departments to provide and effectively deliver health and safety training programs and activities that help improve employee awareness, safety processes and promotion of safe best practices. * Conduct health and safety compliance audits to identify and assess hazards and deficiencies that may expose the company to loss or failure to comply with regulatory requirements and implement mitigation measures to minimize workplace injuries and illnesses. * Monitor safety performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including investigating incidents (injuries, vehicles, HazIDs, etc.), analyzing data to identify trends, and preparing reports for management to support decision-making and foster a culture of safety within the organization. * Act as a resource for employees regarding safety-related inquiries and observations providing guidance, coaching, and support. * Closely partners with operations and production teams locally. _ *Knowledge/Skills*_ * Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations applicable to occupational safety and health, as well as working knowledge of the various functional areas of a water utility, so as to develop and implement appropriate risk management activities associated with departmental goals. * Working knowledge of the various functional areas and their role in the organization, including H&S written programs, and safety procedures of the Company * Demonstrated understanding of a water utility operation, knowledge, of and ability to integrate regulatory requirements into the training and development of all operating unit employees _ *Experience/Education*_ * Associate level degree required in a related field, i.e., Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering, etc. * Bachelor's level degree preferred * Minimum 5 years’ experience in safety/loss control in a related industry or municipal operation _ *Travel Requirements*_ * Primarily limited to with region. Some overnight travel may be required. * Must be flexible. * Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check. _ *Other*_ * Must be familiar with geographic location of operating centers and facilities, so as to conduct on-site training programs, audits, and inspections, as well as attend meetings with both _ *Work Environment*_ * A typical work environment for this role is dynamic and multifaceted, combining both office and fieldwork settings. * Office: Engages in administrative tasks such as developing safety programs/procedures, reviewing compliance documentation and records, and analyzing safety data. * Field Activities: Conducts regular audits/inspections, monitoring operations in areas such as chemical handling, confined spaces, and equipment maintenance, construction projects.
